Sarah Palin Email “Hacker” Convicted on 2 Charges

He could be and was charged with identity theft, and tried for it.

"The jury deadlocked on a charge of identify theft. Prosecutors reserve the right to have a new trial on that charge."

There is a reason the jury deadlocked. He did not assume her identity. Waste taxpayers money and try again. No doubt the same results will occur.

Just because juries end up in deadlocks, it doesn't mean someone can't be charged with a crime.

Your statement that he couldn't be charged with identity theft was erroneous. That's all.

Funny how all of sudden how people are worried about wasting tax payers' money in this trial.

it's better spent in Obamacare than in trumping up far-fetched criminal charges :giggle:

Too bad they aren't concerned about such things when it's Navy SEALs who are on trial.

People are charged with crimes all the time that they cannot be found guilty of. Check court rosters.

Since we are playing the semantics game again....let's re-phrase. He cannot be guilty of identity theft because he did not steal her identity. And, according to you in threads past, it is the finding of guilt that is the important factor in a trial.

Oh, yes. Of course. Because we all know that Navy SEALS, as a subset of the military, are morally incapable of any form of wrong doing and therefore are above the law and should never be subjected to such an imperfect criminal justice system.

Your words, not mine.

Just FYI, I've made plenty of posts castigating the bad apples that are in the military. I guess you missed those.

I also have no sympathy for hackers who get caught.

It's not a game.

You made a factual mistake about the case and I simply corrected it. I don't know why you want to make a big deal about it.

"Cannot be guilty" of a charge. I would let the jury or judge decide that.
