Is it right for an employer to peek into your own religious life even a faith-based employer?

NEW YORK - Current and former Salvation Army employees sued the organization famous for its red Christmas kettles Tuesday, alleging the government-funded group preached religious and sexual intolerance to its staff.

The workers accused the Salvation Army of creating a hostile work environment for about 600 employees who provide social services for more than 2,000 children in New York state.

The charitable organization required employees to pledge to preach the Gospel, to identify their church affiliation and to authorize their religious leaders to reveal private information to the Salvation Army, according to the lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites)'s New York chapter.

The Salvation Army did not immediately return a telephone message for comment.

More over at the site..........

Salvation Army is a church organization like Southern Baptists' Convention. The SBC would hate you if you wear a shirt bearing a image of Mickey Mouse. They will likely feed you to the alligators. j/k Anyway my point all religious organizations have ups and downs. Im sure the Salvation Army will tone down its 'repression' against its workers and offer them Christmas cookies instead!

I dont think the SA will tone down its repression even if they collected the tax $ on Dumbya's faith-initative shit.

This is what happens when Church and State collide....."What a fine mess you got us into!" quoteth Ollie Hardy!

excrept from the article:
Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said the Salvation Army may have a right promote its religion, but not with government money.

The organization receives $89 million, the bulk of its funding for child care, from the government.

That means the SA can't compel their employees to diviluge their religion to the SA. Besides the SA has to comply with anti-discrimination laws if they receive taxpayer money.

Proves my point that the Idiot has to go back to his village!

Hmm... in that case, I think I'll visit my local Salvation Army thrift shop while wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt!
