RAW EGG WARNING The American Egg Board states: "There have been warnings against consuming raw or lightly cooked eggs on the grounds that the egg may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacteria responsible for a type of foodborne illness.? Healthy people need to remember that there is a very small risk and treat eggs and other raw animal foods accordingly. Use only properly refrigerated, clean, sound-shelled, fresh, grade AA or A eggs. Avoid mixing yolks and whites with the shell?"

That's conventional eggs for you. 'Conventional' foods tend to be contaminated with different kind of bacteria, worms, etc etc. While with organic eggs, it is extremely rare.

btw, you should add the link or source to give them the credit for that.

chicken too

You can get samonella from chicken if you don't cook well and wash it well too...its important to wash the chicken throughly and cook throughly so you won't get sick...smile

You can get salmonella from handeling reptiles too. Many of them carry the bacteria. Even cute Iguanas like Taylor wears for a hat (neat hat btw). I learned this from a petshop owner when my son got one years ago. That sucker had one bad attitude too. He liked to hide above door facings and drop on you, or in my case whack me with his tail.

I raise chickens for the eggs. I am careful to avoid contaminating the white and yolk with the shell, and cook my eggs until firm. Cleaning cutting boards and knives well after cutting up chicken is a good idea. And never reuse it for another meat used in the same meal without washing it first. It takes a few more minutes to make my file' gumbo or jambalaya, but the safety is worth it.

yup wash everything thats related to chicken thats including knife...duh???
LOL

It wont hurt you when you bake any cakes, cookies eg because it kills Salmonella etc.

If you want to eat fried, scrambled, porch and boiled egg then buy organic eggs. I usually buy organic eggs for our sunday breakfast. BUT... BUT... BUT if you dont have organic eggs in your area, then has to check the date of eggs before buy them.

I use cheap eggs for bake cakes, cookies eg.

The raw egg warning has been around for a long time. I remember when young men wanted to "bulk up" their muscles in a natural way (before steroids) they used to make protein shakes that included raw eggs.

I went thru my chief's initiation the year after the "raw egg" warning was publicized. Too bad; raw egg used to be an important component of the initiation "trough". ;)
