i dont think old people should drive.. like my mom.. she kept forgetting to turn light on and almost cause accidents? i told her that is not the way to drive.. she said i can drive.. she almost ran the red lights, Yikes! she is not alert like before .. so have to be alert to look out for dangers and lights. I dont think she can make right decisions on driving on the road.. sighs.

another friend of my mom's shes in her 80s.. she still drive.. and she almost drive into the traffic.. i witnessed it and told my brother about it.. he said i know.. i have been trying to tell cops and people at revenue office.. theys aid cant do anything about it?
my brother said oh till she killed someone is that what u r saying? they said yep.. thats wrong to do that?? i still think they need to do something like driver school every year till they failed some tests then take away license?

as for the road rage.. sometimes i get mad and say damn thats it.. but i dont flipped my bird finger at them .. i just HONKED at them.. lol :)

I don't buy it. Sounds more like an excuse to me.

I do agree that some people have anger issues that need to be addressed, but I think one should take responsibilty for their behavior and do something about it.

To call it a "disorder", though, just gives someone an "out." It's like saying ..."I committed vehicular homicide, but it's okay, because I have a disease."

NO!!! "You got pissed off and you killed someone, moron! Accept what you did and pay the consequences of your actions!"

It just sounds like another way for someone to excuse their behavior and I don't buy it.

I concur. What's the next "disorder" going to be?

Did you read the whole thread carefully? Don't jump into a conclusion too early.

Id Create a Program called Senior Ride.Seniors can Pay only $5 a day (ALL DAY) To ride a BUS.It would take senoirs anywhere they want and pick them back up.It would Run from 8AM-6PM Everyday.

Heh...$5 a day?

In Tallahassee: $7.50 for 7 Day Bus Pass. For four weeks, that's $30/month. :)

But for seniors:

Reduced Rate Cash Fare (youth, senior citizen, disabled with ID): $0.60

As of July 1st - Indiana is strengthening it's road rage law. It is illegial to do a road rage in Indiana.

Aggressive drivers beware
Indiana’s first road rage law soon goes into effect, creating a statute specifically targeting aggressive drivers.

House Bill 1108 defined aggressive driving as committing three or more road violations during an episode of continuous driving.

Some of those violations include following a vehicle too closely; overtaking another vehicle on the right by driving off the road; unsafe stopping or slowing; unnecessary sounding of the horn; failure to yield; failure to obey a traffic signal; and driving at an unsafe speed.

Officers can cite drivers for those individual problems, but they now have the option of charging drivers with misdemeanor aggressive driving. And the crime becomes a felony if the behavior results in serious bodily injury or death.

“Anytime that a law is passed that assists our officers’ ability to stop or prevent problems on the roadway, it is an extra tool,” Indiana State Police Capt. Sherry Beck said.

Sen. David Long, R-Fort Wayne, was a Senate sponsor of the bill and said creating the specific charge helps prosecutors who have to deal with the issue.

“I think we put enough safe harbors in there to distinguish between being a bad driver and someone with road rage,” he said.

By the way - here's the link http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/journalgazette/14897252.htm

We need that in Florida, too. I wonder how I could get the Floridian government to pass the law...?

This can happen sometime in Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Tallahassee.

Road Rage: What to Do for Defensive Driving

Though defensive driving is well known, it is equally important to drive courteously. By remembering the following, you can avoid getting in to situations that jeopardize you and other drivers.

1. When in doubt, let the other car go first.
2. Follow all traffic signs and indicators.
3. Give pedestrians the right of way.
4. Allow others to pass you by moving to right lanes.
5. Use your turn signal to indicate that you want to change lanes.
6. Maintain plenty of space between your car and the vehicle ahead.
7. Do not yell or make obscene gestures.
8. Try not to use your horn or high beams.
9. Be polite to other drivers
10. Keep your cool!

Most of all, keep in mind that no matter how rude the gesture or stupid the maneuver, road rage endangers you and your loved ones—stay calm, stay cool, and stay in one piece!

$5 a day is expensive.

It costs WAY less than that to ride the bus here. We have Day Bus Pass for only $2.

Senior Citizens are usually on a fixed income. Your idea would cost the Senior Citizens up to $150/month to ride the bus. It just won't work.
Well Bus Drivers need a Salary and its a way to create more Jobs.

Road rage is a disease ? I don't think so.

For those who have a problem handlin' with anger/temper -- go to Anger Management Class before takin' a driver's license.

Wyoming is very quiet state not like another mad roads in big cities. My hometown is very quiet. All vehicles always must have honk to prevent the accident. Genderings or tempers does not help. It is very silly to say Rage Road is a diease. It's writer's opinions I can say it stupid.

Always in check to avoid the mistake! Use your honk and light turns!

Hmm... here's an idea.

As part of the test for the drivers license, there should be a part where a random stranger sits next to you and annoys the hell out of you by pissing you off or something. If you respond in a bad way, you fail! ;)

LOTS of people would fail for sure!

Nope I dont believe there is Road Rage... I think they are just morons and they want it there way when it comes to them... Yesterday we went to the lake to listen to concert and watch fireworks with friends and my family... We took two cars... Anyways when it was over, everyone booked as fast as they could, so we waited for a little bit till everyone get out of there... So we can get out safe. Anyways, My mother pulled out and someone was waiting to get out too so she let them out, apparently this other person thought she was letting this other person out, no my mother was letting this one person out not the other bunch... It was a mess.... These people who thought they were allow to get out of there, flipped my mother off and slammed their brakes, a BUNCH OF REDNECKS!!!!! They were cussing and all that.... There were police officers every where, when we pulled up at the corner to get ready to turn on the highway, they were 1 inch to hit us behind because they were really mad and still cursing at them... (it was a bunch of teenagers) So my parents slammed their brakes and pulled over to a gas station to meet us, we got out, and their were police officers still, I don't know if they heard it or not... We all have to deal with it, as much as we want to curse at them back... THEY ARE IDIOTS!!!!!!

Easy. Put the AARP on xanax!

Seriously, a lot of seniors live in FL, so there's a strong lobby for them. You would have to convince the lobby groups that laws such as this won't hurt them. Good luck, though! A lot of people are "Me Me Me, I I I" You'll be hard pressed to convince someone that giving up their priviledge to drive is for the GREATER good.

That's one reason I agree with Lucia on this one. I don't think mandatory forfeiture is the way to go, anymore. I think mandatory testing of seniors is the more appropriate action to take. Once a person reaches a certain age, I think they should undergo tests both written and physical, to determine if they are fit to continue by the wheel. If they fail either the written or physical testing, then they give up their licence for good.

Buckdodgers, You are forgetting something else. People in Russia get paid very low wages, almost slave wages and the living situation for Deaf Russians are not that too great. It would be like living in 1700's - 1800's America with no real interpreters, tough attidutes towards the Deaf and things like that. I have met many Deaf Russians that have moved here legally or illegally and they usually do not cause trouble and work hard. They told me they are much more happier here and they said they wished that Russia had what America has for Deaf services and a better living situation, employment etc. We really are blessed to be living in America as a Deaf community.

Don't ever forget that. God Bless America !!!!!
