Road Rage Disorder
Are drivers crazy -- or is the drive itself just nuts?

http://autos.aol.com/article/general/v2/_a/road-rage-disorder/20060623150809990001

Do you agree with this or not?

"Road rage" is now an official disease -- Intermittent Explosive Disorder, the shrinks call it.

Ever encountered one? i wonder?

share your experiences right here!

Huh!! I dont think it is disease...I do get angry when some bad drivers almost crashed me.. i flip the fingers....

Thanks!!

I don't buy it. Sounds more like an excuse to me.

I do agree that some people have anger issues that need to be addressed, but I think one should take responsibilty for their behavior and do something about it.

To call it a "disorder", though, just gives someone an "out". It's like saying ..."I committed vehicular homicide, but it's okay, because, I have a disease."

NO!!! "You got pissed off and you killed someone, moron! Accept what you did and pay the consequences of your actions!"

It just sounds like another way for someone to excuse their behavior, and I don't buy it.

Thats why if i was an US SENATOR id make a law that when youre 65 you must give up your license to drive. And id would raise the driving age from 16-21 cause kids are too immature to drive and old people dont function too well behind the wheel. But i need 30 million dollars to run for office.

If that actually happened, would YOU be willing to give up your license when you turn 65? Think about that....you would have to depend on others to get you to places if you can't drive...

i dont think old people should drive.. like my mom.. she kept forgetting to turn light on and almost cause accidents? i told her that is not the way to drive.. she said i can drive.. she almost ran the red lights, Yikes! she is not alert like before .. so have to be alert to look out for dangers and lights. I dont think she can make right decisions on driving on the road.. sighs.

another friend of my mom's shes in her 80s.. she still drive.. and she almost drive into the traffic.. i witnessed it and told my brother about it.. he said i know.. i have been trying to tell cops and people at revenue office.. theys aid cant do anything about it?
my brother said oh till she killed someone is that what u r saying? they said yep.. thats wrong to do that?? i still think they need to do something like driver school every year till they failed some tests then take away license?

as for the road rage.. sometimes i get mad and say damn thats it.. but i dont flipped my bird finger at them .. i just HONKED at them.. lol :)

I do not go on a road rage at all, in fact I am very cool and very professional. If you know anything about car racing and Steve McQueen, he does not panic, goes into a tactical mode and he works the car gearbox and focuses with a frightening calm attidute. If more people had the self discplince of a U.S. Marine or a stock car racer then there would be a whole alots less road rage incidients. I have been in road rage incidients and I can tell you they are no fun getting shot at or trying to be run off the road and things like that. There are some real serious homicidal nutcases out there on the road even if you don't do anything to piss them off. They still stay pissed off, man and there is nothing you can do about it except avoid them whenever possible. I don't think it is a mental health issue. I think it is more of people not taking responsiblity of their actions so they can stay pissed all the time. That is what I think .....

Exactly. We had someone on here a year or so ago, who blustered about the same thing.

I was in favor of a mandatory upper age limit, at one point. However, now I'm not sure what needs to happen. Clearly, some people aren't fit to drive, but that's true for someone of any age. We have just as many younger people committing stupidity behind the wheel as we do seniors. So, something else has to happen, and I think calling road rage a "disease" is just gonna give people an excuse to be stupid.

I think it would be better if, instead of a mandatory age limit, they should implement mandatory annual road/written/eye tests for those past a certain age limit...that would weed out those that shouldn't be out on the road at all while allowing those of the same age group to remain driving as long as they pass those tests.

I agree. I think SOME states have it. The problem is, though, it's not nation wide. Each state has the right to make it's own laws. So, some states are more lenient than others.

I don't believe it is road rage disease...they need chill pill...

Few days ago, I was driving...and the small truck stopped all of suddenly to turn left...She did not put left signal on for warning to turn left...

When I saw what she was doing...man, I slammed the brake as hard as I could....I smelled my tires smoked...I was SHOCKED...She cussed at me...then turned left... :ugh:

I was shooked up...shaking real bad...I couldve gotten killed or gone to hospital....the window couldve smashed my face...whew...Im thankful that God saved my life that day!

I think that considering road rage a disease is a load of crap!

People just need to learn to control their temper.

Got mad a few times at idiot drivers, especially from other countries--I live close to the mexico border and get alot of those drivers from there who think the laws are same here as from their homeland. I thought about giving the finger but then I think better not cuz not know if they re gangs or not.

Ive learned to ignore the idiots...just cuss them out without doing the road rage thing and keep on driving as normal.

$5 a day is expensive.

It costs WAY less than that to ride the bus here. We have Day Bus Pass for only $2.

Senior Citizens are usually on a fixed income. Your idea would cost the Senior Citizens up to $150/month to ride the bus. It just won't work.
