In Utah there is record largest fire in area in history of state. over 160,000 acres burned already, not contained at all. I-70 and I-15 closed for a period of time even due to fire. There is much smoke in sky her in Salt Lake City, yuk. Many patients with respiratory problems in SLC in hospital or Emergency room. See ksl.com if wanting to read entire story. Hot weather continues here, but I've seen much hotter before. When sun comes up in mornings looking bright red! like on fire.!

*sigh* 160,000 acres is equal to the size of a city! :eek3: Oh my... It's so sad that people don't care about the nature but money and their lives.. :(

OMG!!! Look at this quote from the article.

The Milford Flat fire is leaving a big black mark over almost 500 square miles. That's about the size of the Salt Lake Valley.

The firefighters are getting some well-deserved sleep after a hard day's work. But it paid off.

The fire is now 10 percent contained and is slowing down. The latest estimate is now 311,000 acres have burned. And it may take another ten days until the fire can be 100 percent contained.

Wow... :(

That's SO HUGE area! that's so fuckin' creepy.. *sighs* I feel so sorry for people who had to deal those sitaution..

Yeah, its 200+ miles north of this fire and there's smoke in abundance here. I walked outside yesterday and was like "hey, campfire!" In fires this big, I wonder how the wildlife around there survives or not. Also, there is a very, very pretty canyon to drive through near Milford and I'll be so pissed if that is burned! :pissed:

Welcome to my club!! I was witnessing the wrath, the second largest wildfire in California history, San Diego Wildfire 2003. We have had four fires in the San Diego County, which totaled nearly 400,000 acres. 16 people were killed. That was the longest three days of my life! I'll never ever forget it. We thought we were gonna lose our home. It was a close call.

That absolutely sucks what happens in Utah. I feel for them. Make sure they need to clear bushes surround the houses and gets lots of water! Please, have common sense. I'd recommend putting sprinklers on the roofs!! My neighbors used to do them when they thought the fire was getting close to them.

If the fire is getting close, I'd take my documents, photos, computers, cds and value stuff with me! They're so priceless to me. We'll be expecting future wildfires here until Nov. and we shall be prepared for them.

I heard the news. I deal with many fires around here too. Hope fire will be out there soon as possible unlikley last summer when the fire was going on for month not so far from here and we deal with alot of smoke too.

They warn us about drought and expect alot of fires this year now to Nov. So I am not surprise to see fires everywhere in the west.

Can't beat Mother Nature when the lightening strike and it will start fire alike one last weekend up in Sierra Nevada and Nevada.

WOW! :eek3::eek3: I hope the fire will put out ASAP!

It is so sad that some people lost their home from the fire. :(

It is pretty scary!!! EKKKK!

It happened to us also...in Northern Nevada (Verdi, Reno etc) had a bad fire in early 90's. I never forget because when I bought brand new car, and the ash was all over on my car! But the fire wasn't close to my old rental house. Thank God!

We need rain all over to prevent the fire...It is totally up to the Mother's Nature.

Seriously, researcher discoverd that the long periods of no forest fires tend to cause catastrophe fires like this one. Reason? Research discoverd that over years, with tight fire control, the leaves falls on grounds every year, accumulate enough carbon. Just think this way, over 100 years of build up, it gets out of control.
It is not about money, it is nature that is trying to control the environment, but humans got in way in some way. Lightning is what cause the forest fire...

Its sad of course, I now have friends from SLC, not good news. I just talk with some of them, it is not good.

Hope they find a way to get it back in control.

Yike! Nature is dying!!!

Yeah true, the dry leaves or dead wood fell off the tree cause the fires.. If we could clean it up then the fire might won't happen.

Did you know that pines has sight gas inside?. I learn from my friend. He is explained to me. Anyway I test compare regular leaves and pines put campfire. WHOAAAAA pines is fastest burning up quick than regular leaves. It is very interesting learn something to me.

Yea..can understand about the wildfires...so many memories as a kid of hearing about the huge ones in Northern AZ. The last huge one was the Lone Ranger wildfire in which two huge wildfires merged together and created a colassal wildfire breaking records on AZ.

If the fire was started by ligtening then that's mother nature but people build houses in those areas have to understand the risks associated living up in the mountains. Same thing for those who live on the coast.

Let Utah burn. Utah industries represents the most dispicable insult to mother nature and the big brush fire is her way of expressing her fury.

Yes, you are right. America has been so proactive during the last 50-100 years with controlling wildfire that its caused 3 generations+ of overgrowth in all these natural/ uninhabited areas. This creates dangerous situations. With hot wildfire, and enough wind creates potential for special situation where fire can spread at 30-40 mph!!!! yes I found it hard to believe at first myself.....I guess this is how people, residents and firefighters die. There is actually a name given to this type of fire and candy bar goes to first person to help me out and name it....I'm having end of day brain freeze. :ugh3:

Hope they find a way to get it back in control.
