Question about cutting Neighbor's tree!!!

That's right.

Talking with the neighbor first before cutting will give you 50/50... 50% that the neighbor will do something about it (good thing) and 50% that the neighbor will not do something about it (bad thing). However, if you do it without talking to your neighbor... it's making you look bad because you didn't talk with the neighbor first.

So, which is worse... 50% good & 50% bad... or... 100% bad?

You can cut the branches of the tree of neighbor's since the branches are over the line of your property. YOU CAN NOT CUT THE TREE DOWN since the TREE is on other side (not your property) My husband and I cut the branches in the backyard last year because the neighbor's branches went over the fence and line of property. We did not tell them that we are cutting their branches since they can not see the back of the trees (they planted trees in a row that's mean we can not see their house from our house. The neighbor have not complained yet....

Other neighbor cut their own branches in our yard.... since they can see it going over the fence. They asked us if it is okay for them go into our backyard, we told them that was fine with us.... We are not complaining as long as we communicate with each other.

If its really annoying you, then call city and have someone check their backyard to see if they need to cut the tree.

You probably right crabapple tree. It's a meduim size tree with beautiful white or pink flowers during spring then grow crabapple. It's ediable but bittersweet in taste. My neighbor had big crabapple fruits size of big marble. I have Bradford Pear and Cleveland Pear trees. It don't bear fruit after flowering.

Absolutely correct!! I do that to trim just on property line. It may look funny on your property side but not to neighbor. They wouldn't know until if they come over your house and in your yard. The will see their "flat faced" tree with revealing branches on other side. :rofl:

One good trick would be to use a string with a small weight on the end. Make a loose loop and wrap it around the branch. Move the loop until the weight lines up with the fence. Now, you know where to cut it. ;)
 
Almost two years ago, my neighbor asked me to cut their tree on their property. I told him what is my opinion?

I explained him that your tree is beautiful better than my big & tall tree which is sick as stoke on half side dead tree. We planed to remove half dead tree on our property.

He accepted my opinion.... He did not cut his tree down.

Good idea! I would do that if I had chance.. I no longer have any neighbor tree overhangs my property line (That was back then when I lived in first house before I moved to 2nd house). Both neighbor do not have trees on there property by my fences (Their backyard are barren but grass). I'm the only neighbor with 7 trees in backyard. But all trees are about 20 ft away from property line both sides. In about 10 years, I would have "forest" in the backyard while next door are barren. It would be funny if anyone driving on Parkway where my backyard located seeing :ugh3:(barren)-(Forest)-(barren) :ugh3::rofl:

No call the yr city code inspector they will come out and inspect yr property not the police they will just give u the number to call the city. which is a waste of time. The inspector will tell u go ahead to cut but he will warned the neihbor if they dont comply say within numbers of days then the city will give u notice to go ahead to cut it. But after that then u can cut it anytime since u got permit to do it again or any other time without have yto call the inspector again since u have the notice from the city as a prove. So therefore yr niehbor cant sue you see.
