Pregnancy Boom at Gloucester High

Tomorrow, 17 teenage friends, all pregnant, speaks out, Good Morning America ABC Exclusive, Revealing the truth

That's on Good Morning America tomorrow

(that's what I saw on tv while ago)

I'll watch it tomorrow cuz the news I posted previously above which mayor said no proof... so I am curious what those 17 says.. true or not.

I read about that not too long ago.

It's scary when the pregnancy boom occurs, especially when the girls are teenagers.

I find this part interesting -

Time also reported Monday that Pathways for Children chief executive Sue Todd, whose organization runs the high school's onsite daycare center, told the magazine on June 13 that its social worker had heard of the girls' plan to get pregnant as early as last fall. Todd has not returned calls from The Associated Press.

My question is, If the social worker had heard of this plan as early as last fall, Why wasn't it intervened or reported? If it was to be intervened, things would have not been so grim now.

Social Workers sometimes don't do their job. They just think teenagers are teenagers. I don't think the school system is perfect in intervention.

Something's fishy.

Good for the teens to get pregnant! :applause: I support them to get pregnant. :thumb:

Do you know why ? Beeeecause, I believe it is GOOD for them to EXPERIENCE the hardship and a HUGE responsibility to take care of their own babies once their babies are born. Let them taste its heavy task and the babies will tie them down by limiting them from having good times with other " single " friends who don't get pregnant. :D

Pregnant teens' attentions from others don't last long. They will LEARN......

Sorry, I has to disagree with you on this.

I feel sorry for girls because they don't know what kind of life they will missing. Unfortunlately, I feel really bad for the unborn babies because they doesn't deserve to live at kind of life like that. Many teens would feel down and end to hurt/kill their babies. :(

How is what you said different than what I said? We basically said the same thing so how can you disagree with my statement?

It's not what I want to disagree with you but I only want you aware that it's not just internet because I thought the internet is the mainly reason, you accord your post #5 "The downside of the internet I think is showing to show now."

The internet is the main reason. If you look at the timing, all these things that has been happening has exploded since internet became mainstreamed. Things did happen before internet, yes but not near as much as they are now. That is the downside of internet. It is not as censored as before with news. They didn't just tell all information on the news. The internet is uncensored and therefore giving more people access to ideas which is not so good as we now can see.

It's okay for you to disagree with me. :)

I highly doubt that they will end to hurt/kill their babies. They will always get the help from one of the agencies. For example : counseling. ;)

That's a problem for sure. Parents should be able to limit a child's access to the internet and be able to surf only the websites they approve of.

Also, children shouldn't have access to the internet in their bedrooms. If a computer to be put in there, it should be only used for homework and games with no internet connection, nothing else.

I started have computer with internet in bedroom when I was start 15 years old after got own HP PC.

Some teenagers are smart so enough on internet, no way to work out.

Well, you have to remember that they are just young teens. I am totally sure that once they gave birth of their babies to this world, they will realize how it is not easy job to raise their kids via responsibility to take their babies to see doctor for check ups and everything. Welcome to this REAL world for them.

This REAL world is NOT a fairy tale.

Yup, gotta agree with it.

It seems like new to me, it should be good starter for real world.

I am afraid, it's not always.

I read the news paper this morning on more informations. They said that pregnant girls at GLoucester High say the pregnancy pact didn't exist. One of the girls who became pregnant this year denied Tuesday that there was any pact among them to have children together to raise the babies together. So news says there was no definitely pact. The school princinal failed to reponsed to repeat interview to get the story straight. So there is no evidence about the pact. I think this was all to get the media attention.

Well, IF this should happen, then LET them to learn the hard way, if they realize that their babies could be taking away by award or court...or they could make the teens to attend parenting class. There's many options they could offer to help teens.

It's the teens' choice to go to jail if, they abuse their babies. It's the teens' choice to humiliate themselves by ruining their reputations if, they kill their babies. They could lose friends, or what have they out there in teens' life.

Life is all about learning for them. They chose what they make it. Everyone has their own faults/mistakes they learn from it... depending on how long it takes for them to reaaaaallly understand. Right now, those teens' don't have any clue what's ahead of them that they are facing right now. It will unfold before their own eyes. It's not going to be very long before they wake up..... It's better than adult's words. It's good for them to SEE the real events what is going to happen to them.

I think there is some serious backtracking by Gloucester High. Pact or not, their teen pregnancy rate is high and, unfortunately, not uncommon for areas with high unemployment.

These girls will probably "dump" their kids on their parents while they get their lives in order.
