LAKELAND, Fla. - It's game over for some police officers who played video games while they raided a convicted drug dealer's home in central Florida.

Surveillance video obtained by WFLA in Tampa caught the officers playing a Nintendo Wii bowling game, with one furiously jumping up and down in celebration. Officials say some of the officers could be disciplined.

Officers with the anti-drug task force had just stormed into the home of the convicted drug dealer, who was already in custody. One Polk County sheriff's detective can be seen taking several breaks from cataloging evidence so she can bowl frames.

The officers did not know a video camera had been set up in the house before the March raid.

Game over: Police caught playing Wii game in house they had just raided, face discipline

Busted.

maybe they are trying to calm their nerves after dealing with drug dealers (doubt it though... they probably just want to have a little fun. People do it all the time during work hours).

Hey, It looks like a nice system. They were in the process of cataloging evidence so they were doing their jobs. I don't think it's such a big deal. These people risk their lives doing drug busts and should be entitled to a little entertainment while they are doing their jobs.

Nah, it gotta do with the moral issues of trusting people when it come to raids.

Cops who did the raids have been busted for sneaking part of a drug stash for personal use or resales. So... if they weren't caught playing the Wii, who say they couldn't had snuck off with some drugs on their personnel?

Innocent act, but it's the "what if" surrounding corruptions.

You have a point there.

It sure is disappointing to think that they should be doing there jobs instead of slacking around. They thought because they have the positions, they can just get away with it. Having a stressful and life-threatening job is not easy but it's not an excuse to act that way.

LOL..

I saw that in our local News.

I wonder how Sheriff Grady Judd will deal with these guys.

I saw it from yesterday.

BARTOW | Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Tuesday he's embarrassed by a video that shows investigators from his agency among those playing a Nintendo Wii bowling game while serving a search warrant in March.

"This is not a major breach of discipline," Judd said. "This is a major breach of embarrassment."

A multiagency law enforcement task force is now at the center of a Sheriff's Office inquiry.

The video aired Monday night on WFLA, a Tampa television station, shows several investigators playing a Nintendo Wii bowling game at the North Lakeland home of Michael DiFalco when they should have been searching for evidence.

Since the video aired, the incident has gained national attention from media outlets.

Judd said Tuesday the incident is being reviewed and disciplinary action will be taken if it is needed.

"Make no mistake about this, there will be corrective action," he said.

The Polk County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force that searched the home March 6 included Polk County sheriff's detectives and police officers from Winter Haven, Auburndale and Lakeland, officials said.

The video shows several investigators playing the game at different times and celebrating when they scored strikes.

DiFalco, 43, faces numerous drug possession charges, including possession with intent to sell, possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon, and trafficking meth, sheriff's reports said.

The investigators raided the home looking for drug activity and stolen items, eventually logging several sheets of nearly 100 items, which included drugs and weapons.

Last week, Judd was shown a 15-minute clip of the video, which is a reported nine hours long. Other police department heads said they were contacted for comment by the station but weren't given an opportunity to view the footage.

The nine hours of footage, Judd said, does not show investigators playing the game the entire time. Of what he has seen, Judd estimates about seven or eight undercover investigators of the 21-member task force played the game.

"Sometimes idle hands get you in trouble, and that's what happened," Judd said.

The Sheriff's Office inquiry will also address a supervisor's participation in the video game, Judd said.

DiFalco's lawyer declined to comment for this story.

Judd and other agency heads said they don't think the video, which was recorded on DiFalco's computer by a motion-sensitive camera, will have an impact on the case.

Judd and other local law enforcement officials understand there is a lot of "down time" when serving a search warrant. But they all agree there is no excuse for playing a video game while on duty.

But Judd's biggest question for the investigators is why the computer the video was recorded on wasn't seized in the investigation.

The search warrant for the home shows detectives were allowed to seize all electronic and computer equipment as part of the investigation.

"In my estimation, we should have taken the computer and we didn't," he said.

This reminds me of a time when a woman got in a car accident. While she was in the ambulance, a police officer ate her McDonalds lunch that was in the car.

OMG. He ate her lunch? Not only that was disrespectful. The officer does not know what blood bornedor air borned illnesses has become of that meal during the accident.

It only takes a droplet... Ya know?

It only takes a droplet... Ya know?

If it is in direct contact with the eyes, open sores, open wounds and so on. Blood-borne diseases don't live for long after they have been exposed to air... think "less than a second."

I am not even sure if I should laugh.... or be grossed out by the McDonald's thing.
