I hope this thread isnt repost

1 month ago I got pneumonia and I dont know where did I get from, but I noticed few Gallaudet students or staff or MSSD students are still getting pneumonia/brothics... I wonder how did it spread so fast? That means whoever got penumonia/brotichs and should send home to protect our health?? I also want to know did anyone got pneumonia before and doctor(s) at ER/hospital did ask u to stay overnight at hospital for more observation?? They did ask me to stay overnight at hospital and I declined, while my friend didnt get any request from doctor(s) to stay overnight in hospital, how weird is that?

I never been pneumonia my life before. Last month I got bronistis too. Last week ago, my deaf lady had an penumonia and still in hospital few days. Dr told her that keep coat and shoes from outside colder weather. I don't know what caused from penumonia? I hope you get well soon.

I already get well, just still little cough and mucus thats all, I got pneumonia last month... I am not sure where it came from, but my mom suspects I wearing shorts while outside is really coldest or dirty/mold in residence hall (cuz of I am working there) or when I took shower, still wet on the hair and went go out while hair is still wet or people from Gallaudet who had pneumonia then spread to me, so I cant prediction... From now on, I wearing any clothes to keep warm myself, not shorts till spring time..

For hard breath or wha??? i just wondering that's all

Yea, it was hard to breath, even I walk to bathroom very close and I already had trouble breath... You will feel pneumonia if u had chest pain, headache, upper abs pain, trouble breath, ignore food, dry throat, vomit, alot sleep, cough, heart/pulse beat lil fast than normal, high fever... At first time, I tho I would get mono since I didnt sleep alot during I got pneumonia, then went to hospital and resulted pneumonia, so I was so shocked...

It's not really contagious. A person can get it if his immune system is very weak. Other than that, you can't.

Pneumonia itself is not contagious, but the bacteria and viruses that cause it can be. These viruses and bacteria are found in fluid of the nose or mouth of an infected person.

There are two types of pneumonia -- viral and bacterial.

Viral pneumonia starts with a dry cough, headache, fever, muscle pain and fatigue. As it progresses, you may have difficulty breathing and develop a cough that produces phlegm.

Symptoms of bacterial pneumonia include chest pain and a cough that produces green or yellow phlegm.

(I apologize for being graphic.)

I've never had pneumonia before, but I have had bronchitis a few times. Not fun. :(

I hope so too! :) Your post reminded me of the time I had strep throat, a sinus infection *and* bilateral ear infection. I was absolutely miserable. :( It took about a month for me to get my voice back -- and even longer for the bilateral ear infection to clear up. I *never* want to experience anything like that again. LOL!

Yea, when I had pneumonia, it was no fun and I always complain all time!
