Plastic shopping bags

Couldn't the problem between paper vs. plastic be solved if we all used reusable bags to carry our purchases? A couple of cotton tote bags will hold quite a bit, and you can use them again and again. When they start to fall apart, cotton is completely biodegradable. No trees cut down, not plastic that refuses to decompose. Problem solved.

Bingo! :D Doesn't those look better than those ugly paper bags or plastic bags? :giggle:

Oh, and they make great "caves" for cats to hide in so they can leap out and attack human legs passing by.

Haha, my cat does that all the times, even though she wasn't in a bag, but hiding in the hall bathroom, or even chasing to human's legs, I love my cat!

In our area the old Christmas trees are picked up for free, and taken for recycling. They are put thru a mulching machine and changed into mulch for gardens. It's very popular here.

Yes, and also use for fire-place as well.

I prefer plastic bag, it is very useful than paperbag. I can put wet clothes in plastic after swimming. It would soak rest of other clothes in the bag.

Pick up dog poops and clean cat litter in plastic bag to tie it up and trash.

Bring my lunch and dinner in the plastic bags.

Paperbag rip easy and soak easily from rain. I prefer, plastic bag which is more useful.

Do you mean using the old paper bags, and then shredding and processing them into new paper bags? Or do you mean using the same old paper bags over and over again?

Yes until it worn out itself.

Yes, I only use plastic bag for rubbish bin (trash) and also after clean cat litter as well.

I use waterproof bag for wet things after swimming.

I let cats play with plastic bags - they loves to go in plastic bags and treat plastic bag as their own home...

I have seen Americans use brown paper bags at PX which we does'nt have... Plastic bags or cotton bags sell in any supermarkets. A lot of Germans including myself prefer cotton bags over plastic bags. I have a lot of cotton bags which I got the gifts from every supermarkets and companies.

I use tupperware box for my lunch to work place.

At every school, they do not allow to bring paper or plastic but tupperware box for their lunch. If they want to go swimming then they must bring waterproof bags with them.

German is strict about recycled environment law including enviornment-friendly as well.

I involve with environment-friendly at work place.

Pacman,
Answer your question. I think plastic bags bans do not solve anything because people need plastic bags for different reasons.

Look at poor turtle! it eating toxic plastic!

Poor turtle :(

:eek3: What will I use to pick up dog poop if they get rid of platic??? :giggle:

Just buy small plastic trash bag (roll out of box) to pick dog's poop if plastic shopping bags are gone.

SF is just ban on plastic shopping bags but plastic trash bag (roll out of box) is still legal.

It would be long time to see plastic shopping bags to be gone, probably next decade or so.

Small trash bags are like that...

Do you mean for fire wood? Yes, they can be used for fire wood but they have to be allowed to season for at least a year first. Pine trees can't be burned in fire places right away because of the creosote hazard. But yes, people can cut and stack the Christmas tree wood to use next year.

When they mulch the trees, the whole tree, wood and needles, goes into the mulcher.

I prefer cloth bags.

Anytime I go travelling, I was always buy a souvenir cloth bag and fill it up with souvenirs. When it's full, I don't buy anymore souvenirs. (Budget idea)

I then use the cloth bags for grocery shopping or cut off the handles and make them into pillows of places I been to.

Yes, that´s right.

Yes, fresh woods can´t burned in any fire places and tiled-stove. My hubby leave real tree after New Year over at our yard to fresh and dried until hot weather then cut them up into piece and storage for next winter time.

Yes correct about mulch.

I hope not, carrying that basket would give me a sore arm..:) I will patiently wait until they figure out how to teleport things..:)

Or replicate things! Where is my food replicator! Why can't
I just ask my replicator for, "loaf, meat, hot, sauce" and
"tea, earl gray, hot"? Heck I'm still waiting for my hover craft!

The way I see it is we have many choices, we can pollute
the landfills with plastic or we can cut the trees down and
use paper. To me trees are a crop, you grow them, harvest
them and replant them. Just plant more than you harvest.

Wimp Wimp Wimp!
People in early 1900's never understand that word until late 1900's.
