Pick em up truck

I got the tags today .. Yay!! Not one single issue, well, except that the Tag Office closed for two days due to the weather. So, the line was fairly long but moved quickly. I was in and out the door in under 45 minutes. No emissions, total cost of the Ad Valorem tax, transfer of title (from Florida to Georgia), and tag came to $92 and will be an annual $20 to renew.

Feels better to have it in your name don't it? ;) That isn't bad to transfer it and tag ... it cost me $70 something in 2012 to transfer a 4x6 trailer title and get the tag for it and $19 something a year to renew it.

I just got back from having the oil changed. I wanted a reference point .. because I don't know when the last time this vehicle was serviced ... for anything, and having the fluids inspected was a MUST.

Turns out, everything needs to be changed. Rear differential, transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, fuel filter, air filter, hydraulic clutch fluid ....

But .. they told me the truck is running very strong .. and after doing these things, i should have a truck that lasts me for years to come.

For I6 motor? It's pretty long long long times and probably 10 years.

I am wanting to make some preparations for this Friday - we are supposed to get snow all day (some predictions from 7-12 inches). This will be somewhat devastating for my area.

Is there a way to "make" snow chains for tires? No one sells them in my area. I am thinking I should be ok, if I can weigh down the rear axle by piling firewood in the bed, and have snow chains on the tires. The tool box has a very long tow chain I can use to pull people out of ditches in my area.

I have never attempted to make snow chains, but is it possible to make them out of the chains used for dog leashes? Something similar?

I thought snow chains used on paved roads were illegal? Or are you planning to use them off-road?

Tire Chain Laws

The police are using them and are preparing to use them for Friday

and from your link:

Georgia - Safety spike metal studs may be used when conditions demand them. A set of chains is also permissible for all vehicles likely to encounter conditions requiring chains.

Don't forget to get all the suspension parts lubed.

A guy I dated fixed up a bread van and put a stove in it and bed in it and he added an air horn by taking a huge tire and filling it with air and hooking it up to the air horn . It worked great. And he added some lights at top of van so if he broke down he would plenty of light to work on his truck . He did all the of the repairs himself.
