Anybody has received an email from Paypal regarding a settlement for a lawsuit?

I did and they said I may be qualified for a portion of the settlement (I probably would get five bucks)

More information is available at this webpage:
https://www.paypal.com/settlement/

Any thoughts on this? I always have known that Paypal is a crook but I was stuck with their option because I have brought something from eBay. After encountering paypal, i stopped "shopping" on eBay because I never want to deal with PayPal again.

from e-mail? odd.. something new to me.. is it from a court? that a plaintiff sue paypal?

I'm been starting getting mails from courts for 3 different lawsuits one is a lawsuit towards wal-mart, other is a lawsuit towards US bank credit card, other is a lawsuit towards Wells Fargo mortgage.. they're asking me if i want to be involved.. but I opt-OUT towards Wal-mart because i don't want to lose my job.. and that isn't affecting me...

Yeah I got an email from Paypal about that. I haven't had a problem with PP. Sorry some did.

The settlement details that Paypal is clear of any wrongdoing, so.. it's form of a bribery I guess. Feels too funny to me. Oh well. :)

Hmm... that's weird.

Well, it's probably pointless to sign up for this anyway. There are millions and millions of Paypal members. They're splitting $9 million for court orders then the people who filed for the money. With the court dues, that might leave us with $8 million if we're lucky. Then if 8 million people file for claims, each will get under $1 returned.

I just read the document. They will be giving out $50. You have to fill out a form and tell them that you did have problems with Paypal and that they broke the law with you. If they find out you lied, they could fine you for a bigger fine and arrest you for perjury.

I have it in my email and  Will I should file it or not ?? I have doubt in my head because I did not have problem with PP but sometimes they are slow to transfer to my bank. I did not see any of problems or just buy a small amount of packages.... Will I should file it ?

We got one of the emails.
We have never had any problems using Paypal for ebay.
As for the $9 million, after the lawyers get their share (normally 1/3), I don't think we will even see $8 million. The payouts on class actions, except for the two original parties, are usually just token amounts. I think you are right about the $1 shares.
Paypal denies wrongdoing, so I think this is a form of "hush" money to the litagents.

For $50 it might be worth the paperwork hassle. Personally, we have never had a problems, so we are probably not included. I'll read the whole thing carefully later today.

Yeah... was thinking along both of your lines about the hush money (called it bribery earlier) and the wronged customers not even getting a lot of money. Smells rotten eggs somewhere there. :)

Even scarier... they automatically make you part of the group that is legally bound by the terms of the statement to not sue them anymore in the future IF you don't write a letter to them by handwriting that you don't want to have anything to do with the settlement this time. Think I should write them saying I don't want to be a part of this settlement?
