I don't think putting parents in jail is the solution..
I don't think it's a good idea to put the parents in jail unless they are a physical threat to the children. It traumatizes the children to see their parents hauled away, and it teaches children that police are the bad guys. Then, who's left to watch the kids at home? They put parents in jail if children misses too many days of school. It's the same thing. It's more like a wake-up call in taking responsible of your own children.

I think the wake-up call should hit the parents, not the children.
This really isn't about forcing anyone to vaccinate their chidlren. As the article stated, there are exemptions. Parents have the choice to provide the school with vaccination records or file an exemption. The parents have failed to do either one, and one or the other are required for a child to be is school. It is mandaory for a child to attend school. This is about the parents not complying with school regualtions regarding vaccination records or exemptions being provided to school officials. The parents failure to provide proper records has resulted in children not being in school. Parents are responsible for insuring that their children are attending school.
The article also said that they were having difficulty contacting some of the students and parents because of outdated addresses. It is also a parent's responsibility to provide the school with current contact information.
Obviously, these parents are simply not making the effort to provide the proper records and information to the school system. Their behavior is irrespsonible. What if their child was injured at school, and they needed to contact that parent? Outdated records would prevent it. In the case of a child being unconscious, the child could not provide the updated information, either. Parental notification is required for medical treatment in the case of an injured child.
This is not about mandatory vaccinations......it is about complying with the regulations of the school system and keeping a child in school.

The schools do allow the parents to opt out of the vaccinations for their kids but they have to fill out the proper paper work to do that.I believe it is " mandatory " for every child to have vaccinated shots, because they don't give the parents choices when their kids are required to attend school. All schools are the government's schools and they are not private schools.
I think it is ridiculous to MAKE the parents to give their kids vaccinated shots when the parents don't really want to or due to their religion reasons or whatever. I mean, it is ridiculous to me.
When the kids get their vaccinated shots, I noticed that they get sick from flu, or colds, or what ever they get. I do recalled myself gettin' sick when I was around my kids after they get their vaccinated shots... or each kid gets it from his/or her brother or sister in the house or around them. They get runny nose, or colds or what ever they get - NOT right away after vaccinated shots, but they do get them. Right now, all my kids live their own life and I don't get sick for more than 5 years now. My kids don't live with me. Soo, how do you explain all that ?
I also noticed that schools are gettin' weird rules nowdays.![]()

Just a note:
People don't get "colds" from vaccinations, and vaccinations don't prevent colds.

Immunization requirements
South Carolina law requires immunizations to be current before a child can enter 5-year-old kindergarten or school. Students who has failed to receive their shots will not be permitted to attend school. Immunization is necessary for the protection of each student, class, the school and the community.
The following schedule of required vaccinations, screenings, and immunizations are necessary for a child to be admitted to any public, private or parochial school, grades kindergarten through 12, or any 5-year-old child development program under the control of the state Department of Education, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control:
* Four doses of any combination of DTP, DT, DTP-Hib, DTaP, Td, or Tda (tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis) vaccine with at least one dose received on or after the fourth birthday.
* Three doses of any combination of oral or inactivated Polio vaccine with at least one dose received on or after the fourth birthday.
* Two doses of Rubeola (Measles) vaccine with both doses received on or after the first birthday and separated by at least one month.
* One dose of Rubella (German Measles) vaccine received on or after the first birthday.
* One dose of Mumps vaccine received on or after the first birthday.
* Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.
* One dose of Varicella vaccine received on or after the first birthday or positive history of disease for all children admitted to kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grades.
Children younger than 6 who attend a licensed public or private child day care facility, a registered church or religious child day care facility or child development program for 4-year-old kindergarten and younger must present to the day care facility or school if the program is in a school setting, a state Certificate of Immunization that shows up-to-date information.
The following are the minimum immunization requirements for the Final Certificate for Day Care Attendance and shouldn’t be confused with the recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule:
* Four doses of any combination of DTP, DT, DTP-Hib, or DTaP vaccine.
* Three doses of any combination of oral or inactivated Polio vaccine.
* Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.
* Current, age-appropriate Haemophilus influenzae type B conjugate vaccination according to the currently published immunization schedule.
* One dose of Rubeola (Measles) vaccine received on or after the first birthday.
* One dose of Rubella (German Measles) vaccine received on or after the first birthday.
* One dose of Mumps vaccine received on or after the first birthday.
* One dose of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine received on or after the first birthday or positive history of disease.
* Current, age-appropriate Pneumococcal vaccination according to the currently published immunization schedule.
Students may be exempt from these immunization requirements for reasons such as medical contraindication, religious exemption or special exemptions For more information on immunization requirements and exemptions, call DHEC’s Immunization Division in Columbia at (803) 898-0460 or (800) 277-4687 (SHOTS).

in Virginia law, children and mothers are required to have vaccined shots and can get fined or having a child taken away from the parents so that true.
