Oops! Mythbusters did something wrong!

That's your humble opinion. These guys have been doing movie stunts for many years. They know what to do.

Things happen, shit happens. That's all.

if they knew what they were doing, this shouldn't have happened.

What would you do if your daughter was in the house and the cannonball flew two inches from her head? Nobody was still hurt, but . . .

No difference.

Same thing has happened to us all. We've had our close calls. And moved on, without issues, I hope.

If it were my house, I'd invite them over for a plaster party.... of course they would have to bring Kari Byron with them. :naughty:

Well, it misfired. Humans are not built to be have perfect/accurate records. Even movie actors make lot of mistakes before they make a good clip of the movie.

I would have it pointed at the sea

You all know damn well that if this had been a couple teenagers, you'd be calling for their scalps.

Bunch of apologists.

For next time they do a shooting range. Now, they kill some sea life. Oops, Jiro's idea went wrong.

Who cares? There's more dead sea life in an aisle of Kroger than this cannonball would ever do. But I don't see any human bodies in the frozen section at Kroger . . .

Hmmmm, maybe in China they do.

They're not scientists, and they don't go through a scientific process.

What do you mean they don't go through a scientific process? They pretty closely follow the scientific method.

1. Form a question. (The myth.)
2. Gather information and resources. (They often talk about what they know/have researched about the subject on the show.)
3. Form a hypothesis. (They don't always state it, but it's typically, "If we do this, then myth should happen.")
4. Test the hypothesis by performing an experiment and collecting data in a reproducible manner. (The experiments/busting they do, which they collect data on.)
5. Analyze the data. (They have to do this.)
6. Interpret the data and draw conclusions. (Confirmed, plausible, busted.)
7. Publish results. (They don't do this in scientific journals, but the show is an avenue of doing it.)

I hate to say it, but I agree with that. It takes a lot of time and resources to test the myths. I remember the esipode about if a bullet spins if you shoot it on the ice...the myth was confirmed after several tries in the sierra mountains.

LOL, if you think this is the scientific process, you're mistaken.

I am talking about taking precise measurements. Recording data meticulously, using a control, reproducing results, peer review, etc. etc.

Here's a good article exposing the sham that is Mythbusters: When Mythbusters Gets it Completely Wrong | Orgone Research

Well, mythbusters do sometimes try to clone the myths to see if they really work or not. Once again, it is fun to watch. Sounds like you are being too serious. Life is short, have some fun. We are just a blip of the geographic age.

If that was my house, and nobody got hurt.. I'd personally invite them over to make sure they fix my house, and to have them sign the cannon ball.

And demand to be on the show. I would want to stand in front of my house while a bunch of cheerleaders spelled out "Verified"

and demand that they redhead come to some of my parties. :)

I would be shocked if they don't have more than enough insurance to cover the damage
