State Employee Guilty After Taping Women In Bathroom
Ronald Myers Faces Up To 63 Years In Prison

SANTA FE, N.M. -- A former NM-DOT employee accused of hiding a camera in a bathroom has been found guilty on seven counts.

The verdict was handed down Tuesday morning.

Ronald Myers faces up to 63 years behind bars.

Prosecutors said he videotaped women and two underage girls.

Myers will be sentenced after he spends 60 days undergoing a psychological evaluation in Los Lunas.

But why a judge ruled Wednesday that a convicted child molester can be released from prison after serving only half of his three-year sentence????

Law we have is dumb.

Laws are made of contradictions and judges are the contradictious in their rulings most of time when it comes to dealing with perverts and child molesters etc.

Can't say I have any respect for them when they hand down lenient sentences.

The issue with law is that it has so much detail. For example, a dear friend of mine is versed in the legal environment of rape, and she says the smallest differences can have huge impacts on sentencing.

In a rape case, for example, the law looks at usage of date rape drugs (like Gamma Hydroxybutyrate), whether or not penetration occured, and what body parts from both persons were involved in the penetration, and so on. Then you also have to consider that if a woman goes to the bathroom shortly after being raped, she accidentally destroys a lot of the evidence from the rape that points to the accused. The law even has legal limits on how quickly the victim must report a rape, and so on.

The one fortunate thing about law is that it generally follows the doctrine of Stare Decisis, or rulings in cases follow previous rulings. So if you have a case, and you have so-and-so evidence in so-and-so circumstances, you can reasonably expect the outcome to be the same as similar cases from the past.

It's very unfortunate that willful injustice and things like rape happen. It makes me sad that people would actually hurt someone else for their own personal gain.

The law is dumb because 63 years is too long or short... or because his eligibility for parole is too late or too soon?

Is Ronald Myers that convicted child molester you spoke of? It took me a few seconds to bridge the cropped article and your complaint.

I'm also assuming that this Ronald Myers is none of the following professions: actor, teacher, psychiatrist, a real estate agent, a Peace Corps volunteer, nature conservator, priest, lawyer, and/or professor.

Please enlighten me with your logic.
