Occupy Movement Heads to Harvard

Hey guys,

I was just on the Harvard campus when it happened just now. It started about 30 min before my class near to the Yard finished at 7:30 PM. I was with my Harvard freshman friend where we saw a small gathering near to the place we went to eat some froyo. After we got out, the crowd got *much* larger and escalated to the North Gate of the Yard where my friend tried to get in but the police locked it (and all other gates) down (Freshmen only live in the Harvard Yard). No one was able to get in or out at first when the crowd stormed the North Gate. Fortunately, for my friend, she found another gate that was open to let freshmen students in...but it took her 30 min to get in. So yeah, I was surprised to see the movement since I didn't really hear any news about it until my friend texted me the news article about the movement.

It will be interesting to see how the movement progress tomorrow morning (if they still continue on through the night) when I enter the campus again in the morning. I just kinda hope they don't occupy or block the entrance to Radcliffe Institute where I will have my section tomorrow.

Trying to...but I just realized that there's a deaf event being held in the Yard tomorrow night. D'oh! If the movement keeps up and if the Yard is still locked down, we'll have to move it out of the Yard. >.<

Taking it to the heart of the beast. Or should I say, the womb of the beast. Nice.

Don't mind Jiro, sheila. we're all super jealous. take lots and lots of pics and post a controversial thread on AD about it. :run:

I took some pictures from my cell phone camera..but quality is crappy. I just heard from someone that they just unlocked the gates and the protesters went somewhere...probably still at the Law school.

I think the protesters are being too disruptive, since schools should not be a place for occupy, especially when freshmen are trapped inside or outside. And they ruined the "Diversitas" event I took part in that celebrated the diversity and community inclusion at Harvard when the protesters marched through the event grounds near the North Gate.

lol have you checked news lately? it's worse than this.

buy them a bus ticket home.

Forget about the protest.

Join Credit Union just like I did today, and close your primary bank (BOA? CITIBANK? WELLS FARGO? CHASE?) and yes there is a fee to close your bank account. SAD!

:laugh2: good one. yeahhhh hope you will be able to take good pictures and post them here.

I don't think protests will help change things. The best way to change things is stop buying their product or use their product. That will probably force the CEOs to have fair income.

This is reminiscent of the college sit-ins and strikes during the 1960-s and 70's. Campuses would close down and classes would be cancelled. Students would take over ("occupy") administration buildings and vandalize them.

Guess where the Credit Union keep their cash.

I have seen sit-ins on YouTube at religious universities that ban the enrollment of openly gay homosexuals, but it was never a mob-like protest. It was just a small group of 50 or so protesters that go sit in an administration building for 8 hours or something like that and refuse to leave until they are threatened to be arrested for loitering and/or trespassing.

I just discovered that you have to register, pay and log-in to see your link. I wish people would at least mention that the site they are linking to requires things like this!
