It's strange how people get their panties in a bunch over Clinton lying about sex,
It's because he lied under oath. It doesn't matter if he was lying about sex our about what brand of toaster he uses. It's perjury and if you or I did it, we'd go to prison and end up with a felony on our record.

while it is okay that another president lied to get us into a war costing untold misery and grief. Go figure.
Not true. Wrong intelligence does not imply dishonesty. By your standard, President Clinton was also a liar on the subject of WMD.

Three years later we are still going over this

Maybe they can get him after he is finished/voted out. Then we can declare a forfeiture of all his accomplishments, like they do in college. Make him turn over any awards he receives, honorary degrees, etc.

Oh please. The Downing Street Memos leave no doubt that Bush and Blair falsified the intelligence. But we're going off topic.

They leave plenty of doubt. The Downing Street Memo is minutes from a meeting with a British intelligence officer. The "smoking gun" from the memo is a line about how the facts and intelligence were fixed around the policy. It doesn't actually quote anybody or go into details. It's hearsay. Rather underwhelming for a smoking gun. Even within the same document, it discusses the British government's concerns about the event of Saddam using WMD on soldiers should they invade. Another DSM document says that Bush wanted Tony Blair's input before making decisions.

What's interesting is that the evidence at the time that Iraq had WMD was a whole lot stronger than this Downing Street "evidence" that Bush falsified WMD intelligence. Ironic on so many levels...

I think this is relevant by the way. The birthers also have their "evidence" which is about as lame as the Downing Street memos. This just shows there are always people who so dislike the other party's president that they're willing to believe conspiracy theories based on the thinnest of evidence.

Truer words are rarely spoken in the political debating arena...

Yeah, yeah. Or as Rumsfeld put it: "That is to say there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know." :P

Well there are some people who seem determined to get rid of Obama hence my comment. At this point, I would hope no one would just get thrown out. But if the downward spiral of political nastiness keeps it course, that's what may happen.

Clinton got impeached. That's punishment enough.

Clinton never got impeached.

or eeerrr.... that kinda implies he was removed from office.

Mind explaining this link? Being impeached doesn't necessarily mean that you will be removed from the office. 2/3 of the vote in the Senate is required for the removal of the President.

No doubt. Most adult males have lied about sex at some point in their lives...usually about how much they are getting, lol. That doesn't bother me in the least.

Now, the lying to drive a country into war...I have a real problem with that.

Operating on faulty intelligence... that I understand.

but that's not what happened. The Bush Administration knowingly went to war with reports that WMD did not exist. A few countries strongly expressed their doubts too because the evidence provided to them was weak.

2 names for you - Valerie Plume. Collin Powell. These individuals are outstanding example of American patriots with decades of public service who risked their lives and sacrificed a lot for American people.

Both were ruined by Bush Administration simply because they spoke out and did not support Bush's decision against Iraq because they had the real truth.... which Bush Administration repeatedly ignored.

Just read an article on CNN by a repub pundit that states that there is not a republican that could defeat Obama in a 2012 election at this point in time.:giggle:

What would koko say about that? I couldnt' resist. :D

He'd probably start citing all sorts of polls he gets from less than reputable sources.

And he'd opine on how his view are mainstream and how ours are not mainstream.

Yes, we are a bunch of fringe liberals.:laugh2: Thing is, the article was written by a Republican pundit.:laugh2:

Ha ha, our Republican pundit must be a RHINO so he doesn't count.

He doesn't bore people, I'll give him that. :giggle:

What does that have to do with anything? What he's saying is fundamentally true about foreign policy- there are some questions that it doesn't even occur to us to ask.

Yes, the House impeached him.

What reports stated they don't exist? Surely not the 2002 NIE assessment. All fifteen countries on the UN security council believed they existed. The Clinton administration believed they existed and had an official policy of regime change in Iraq. Prominent Democrats are on record talking about the WMDs, even before Bush's presidency.

And Plame and Powell had the real truth? Wilson contradicted his original story when he testified under oath to Congress. He lied. The SSCI report said that Wilson's intelligence report indicated that Iraq approached Niger to buy yellowcake uranium. In other words, it supported what we had already suspected and the infamous 16 words in the State of the Union address were correct. As for Colin Powell, he felt burned because he had actually presented evidence of WMD to the UN.
