Obama's Legacy

my friend can certainly attest to that. He interned for Congressman in DC.

It's mind boggling how much waste there is in the Department of Defense. It is truly, without a doubt, the most wasteful federal agency. It also happens to have the most federal employees, but a HUGE margin, of any other agency.

You want to trim government spending? Start with Defense. It's as simple as that.

Sure it is. Perhaps DeafCaroline will do us all a favor and list the cost of all the entitlement programs heavy spending is done on.

What "entitlement programs" are you referring to?

Something is coming to mind from several years ago. I can't remember allthe details, but it had to do with spending thousands of dollars on an ink pen.

Obamacare, food stamps, subsidys, W.S. bailout, FreddieMac, FannieMae, just tooooooo many to list. But at least I gave you a straight answer and did not use your works famous deflect.

"Obamacare" has not even gone into effect. Food stamps are not an entitlement program. FreddieMac and FannieMae don't just give money away, you know. Well, except the money they gave to Newt. Wall Street bailout is not an entitlement program.

You have an odd idea of "entitlement". But hey, you did leave out Medicare and federally supported pensions. How about VA medical care? I mean, if you are going to call the above "entiitlements" you have to include these, as well. Let's throw social security in there, too.

Most of us prefer that money gets spent assisting people with living rather than in killing billions of innocents.

As usual, you are wrong.
Most of us would rather OUR money be spent by US. We get to decide where the money is best needed ourself and not have the government decide to throw it away.
Right now is the perfect time to understand that we do want to give too and support charity but the government has taken away so much of our hard earn money that we have nothing to give.

You are right that Obamacare has not yet started but like all entitlement programs there is a start-up cost and millions have already been spent. May I say wasted instead of spent?

Military spending is one that needs the most cuts made to it.

We even have to spend for the Presidents stupid vacations. The vacations should be on his own expenses. We paid $4 million on vacations alone. He's going to Hawaii for Christmas.

You need to check your assumptions against facts. Americans as a majority, are all in favor of cutting wasteful and excessive military spending. You just aren't in the majority, thank Gawd.

Thank Gawd that the majority of people in this country put people having access to medical care as a human right well above money being spend to kill billions of innocent people. Thank Gawd that those who have it reversed, such as you, are so few as to not even make a drop in the bucket.

Enjoy that Medicare and federal retirement plan, you selfish and heartless old man.

Yes, you are right but as jillio says if you are going to cut one cut them all.

Now that is just plain stupid. They serve different purposes. Cuts will not have the same consequences across the board. I never said if you are going to cut one cut them all.

Most elected politicians get "paid vacations". And people in other careers get paid vacations from their employers, too. That is the American way. See, that's the thing. People want to demand that their employer provide a paid 2 week vacation (usually more with longevity) from their employer as a benefit for having them as an employer. Then they want to complain that the man they hired and are paying to run the country gets a paid vacation.

I keep telling people that you cannot demand rights for yourself and then bitch because others get the same rights. It is hypocritical.

Paid vacation means that the person still receives his wages during those vacation days. It doesn't mean that the employer pays for their vacation trips. That's what sequoias is referring to.

Oh, how I would have loved for the Post Office to pay for my vacations.....but they would have probably put me in a parcel post box and sent me fourth class mail :(

Most peoplel aren't the President of the United States, either. I'd say there are more perks to that job than there are for the sanitation worker with 10years seniority. As it should be.

Most people don't get a residence provided for them, either, but politicians do. And a few other government employees. Doctors on VA hospital complex come to mind.

Isn't that the same as with the president?

I doubt we're paying for Obama's vacation to Hawaii. It's more like we're paying for security that follows him.

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )

Who knows what the president's perks on the job. We all know his politocal stuff are spent by the taxpayers money. I think there should be a limit on how much he spends on his vacation a year. $4 million dollars on vacation expenses is awfully a lot. Sounds like more than an average rich person who goes on vacations.
