Your argument is based on compare between Shia Islam and Catholic, not first level of Islam because there are Islam and Christianity that break into small parts like Protestant and Catholic, at least for Christianity since Sunni Islam and Shia Islam are part of Islam.

However your word about Imam is belong to Islam since Ayatollah is only applies to Shia Islam.
