Obama's Cadilliac One

look at the performance spec, top speed -- 60 mph!!, that car is HEAVY

Why does it say 'the window opens so the driver can pay tolls'? He's the president, in a limo that's actually a truck chassis with an armoured car body on top. He can just crash the gate doin' 98 (or 58) like in CONVOY.

One thing I noticed is the tank is designed not to catch fire if shot at. Mythbusters did an episode on that and they couldn't get a car tank to catch on fire even when shooting at it repeatedly:

Expoding Gas Tank : Discovery Channel

But still, it's the president here so better safe than sorry!

The President has to pay tolls? What routes are they driving? He doesn't commute to work.

Now terrorists knows all the weak spots of that vehicle. 8mpg... how big is the tank and how far they will get ( radius to cover ) shame shame shame....
window opens 3 inches... ok, a 2-1/2 inch bomb will fit through that slot...ect... they give out too much vulnerable info. oh a gps tracking system... they can build a scrambler for that too.

How far does he ever travel by road, though? I remember them saying on the news the other day he was taking the NY Thruway from Buffalo to Rochester (or Albany?) and they were going to do rolling closures for his motorcade. I guess that includes stopping at every service plaza to refill the fuel tank and also so the horde of Secret Service guys with 2.5in bomb detectors can move up ahead to sweep the next section.

Yep, they announce the route as well. When Bush and the Pope came through Missouri, specifically here in St. Louis, we were instructed to empty our work vehicles and park on sewer lids until the service trucks came to weld them shut... talk about security measures beforehand... Then the day of we had to load with medical supplies and be on call 24/7 in case of a dirty bomb or terrorist hit. I was a Certified CPR/First Aid instructor so I was in the lead of anything that happened, had full protective gear including radiation detectors..... talk about being nervous !

You are assuming that all that information is accurate and complete. ;)

Just be glad it's not turbocharged. If it was, then secret service will have a hard time keeping up with it.

Doors heavier than a plane door... Jesus... Sad when they have to have so much security for one man... SooooMmmmmeeeEoooOooOoooneeeees paranoid... :P

Paranoid? No. Cautious. Yes. We've had one President assassinated in a motorcade. Other American Presidents have been attacked in public. They get threats all the time.

Other foreign leaders have been assassinated or attacked in their vehicles. It happens.

One of the morning TV shows (think it was Today) had an interview with a guy that had written a book with the theory that Lee Harvey Oswald was actually shooting at Gov. Connally rather than Pres. Kennedy. So the danger might not always be from someone after the President.

Or the target was President Kennedy and this guy on TV was just trying to sell a book. ;)

Then, there is the Pope and the popemobile, which was built after an assassination attempt.

Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated in a motorcade, and that triggered WWI.

An assassination attempt was made upon Leonid Brezhnev in 1969, when a deserter from the Soviet Army, fired shots at a motorcade carrying the Soviet leader through Moscow. Brezhnev was unhurt but the shots killed a driver and lightly injured several cosmonauts of the Soviet space program who were present in the motorcade.

Gunmen opened fire on the motorcade of Yemen's Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Bassindwa in the Yemeni capital.
