Well, isn't that an understatement?

By FOUAD AJAMI
'He talks too much," a Saudi academic in Jeddah, who had once been smitten with Barack Obama, recently observed to me of America's 44th president. He has wearied of Mr. Obama and now does not bother with the Obama oratory.

He is hardly alone, this academic. In the endless chatter of this region, and in the commentaries offered by the press, the theme is one of disappointment. In the Arab-Islamic world, Barack Obama has come down to earth.

He has not made the world anew, history did not bend to his will, the Indians and Pakistanis have been told that the matter of Kashmir is theirs to resolve, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the same intractable clash of two irreconcilable nationalisms, and the theocrats in Iran have not "unclenched their fist," nor have they abandoned their nuclear quest.

Yet he still golfs alot more nowadays. Isn't diplomacy great?

Yet he still golfs alot more nowadays.

you sure you're not confusing Obama with Tiger Wood? I understand they're both black but they're not the same person.

Unfortunately, for the troops, he like to talk...and talk...and talk...using the "I" personal pronoun word alot.

of course there's no "we". There's only one President of United States and Commander-in-Chief. Is there somebody else who shares the same position as Obama?

Now, now. Jiro, if Obama start saying "we," then the conservatives would accuse him of trying to install royalty back into the 13 colonies.

Well, he works for us, not the other way around. The Arabs are right, he talks too much. More "eyes" yet less platitudes for those who deserve it.

 Tiger Woods says that he's not "black."

...And then Tiger Woods said he wasn't actually "black" at all -- he was "Cablinasian."

Woods made his remarks on "Oprah," when he was asked if it bothered him to be called an African-American. "It does," he said. "Growing up, I came up with this name: I'm a 'Cablinasian.'" As in Caucasian-black-Indian-Asian. Woods has a black father (or to be precise, if I am interpreting Woods' reported ancestry correctly, a half-black, one-quarter American Indian, one-quarter white father) and a Thai mother (or, with the same caveat, a half-Thai, half-Chinese mother). "I'm just who I am," Woods told Oprah Winfrey, "whoever you see in front of you."

so what color is his skin to you?

Well, if he SAYS that he is NOT black, then so be it. Why should you argue over his color of skin ? Why you ignore Tiger's comment when he said he is NOT ?

that's his opinion. in your opinion - what color is his skin?

His opinion ? I don't believe you. Sorry. I don't buy it.

huh? what he says about himself is not a concern in here. I'm asking YOU for YOUR opinion - what would you say what color his skin is?

I don't either though it does sound racist to me. Besides, it's his heritage and he describes it accordingly so with his background. But this isn't about Woods. Stick to the topic, please. I'm sure it'd be an "interesting" thread by itself discussing Woods' "blackness."

I agree. It's why I refused to respond... best to leave it unsaid to prevent any further to derail this thread. This thread is about Obama afterall. :)

I am not surprised about "Obama talks too much". He has an ego problem when he kept sayin' "I" alot. :hmm:
