What need to be clarified is exactly what risk we're talking about in terms of safety and security. And there is no real discussion on exactly what makes a city a "city" in terms of population size. What's the legal description?

actually yes there is criteria on what constitutes the area as "metropolitan" and such in terms of population size. this issue has already been clarified quite a while ago. here's a link for starter. for more information - here. read up on it.

there's a criteria for that as well. It's for federal and/or state government especially US Census Bureau to tabulate and organize the data. Locally - it's really up to ya'all to label your humble establishment as town or city.

When it comes to threat & risk analysis, the bureaucrats need to know and such labels are really that important in their analysis.

interesting that you mentioned that. There has been some gossip about mega cities wanting to annex themselves from the state in future because they're becoming more and more powerful - financially, politically, and militarily.

Jiro, may i ask, I used to go to the chinatown in nyc all the time. Last time I was there like 1990. eh are there people in chinatown getting bigger or smaller? just wonder?

I am working on coming to NYC in jan. :D

more crowdy and more lively. we will have good time! (and yes safer since it has much more police appearance than before)

Statistics show that people who live in cities are actually living longer than those who live in rural.. it's called The Rural Mortality Gradient:
