In bold - it is unnecessary and I don't believe that violent games make people's behavior so violent, except for anybody with mental issue like schizophrenia should be discouraged.

I played violent games since when I was little kid like Doom in 1993 and didn't have any effect on my behavior.
 
Right, I totally agree. But some people get their panties in a bunch over a GAME or a movie that involves violence.

The problem ain't the games, it's the certain folks who play them that have psychotic personalities or something different about them. Give the game to the wrong hands and it can influence them. It's the same thing with guns.

Not to be rude, (again, dont take this the wrong way) but you started a thread a while back about having some issues. Maybe those were caused by the games and you didn't realize it. Something to think about. :dunno:
 
So moral of the story, if you have a child who seems a bit off, let them watch Sesame Street instead. Haha

well - let me make an even more accurate comparison.

there's no reason for people to have F1 cars because it's not safe.
there's no reason for people to have moonshine because it's not safe.
there's no reason for people to have machine guns because it's not safe.

.... and there's no reason for hollywood and companies to pervert Amendment One by producing the most disgusting, goriest, and violent movie/game as they can....

so what point do we draw a line for how violent, goriest, bloodiest a game can get?

I am not an alcoholic but many people are.
I am not a drug addict but many people are.
I am not a gambling addict but many people are.

so what point am I making? you and I may not have a biological or psychological tendency to addiction or violence but many people are and it's a serious problem.

There will always be people with problems. Video games or not, they will be violent if they want to. We can't just shelter EVERYBODY. It's for entertainment, and the first amendment protects that.

It's obviously you believe in bigger government, I'm sorry I just cannot agree with you.

by your logic.... so you're saying it's ok for people to preach hate and violence like KKK? and you're ok with people abusing our First Amendment?

I do not believe in bigger government and I abhor it but I do believe in regulation if needed when people are too stupid to regulate themselves and causing harm to public and to themselves. that can be done even with smaller government.

it's not government's fault for coming to this point. they were forced to do it.
 
So we should ban alcohol and casinos because some people abuse it? No. We can't protect everybody. That's not ever going to happen. There's always going to be some things that just aren't good for people. It's no reason to ban them. Hey I believe if you want to do drugs and ruin your own life, be my guest. If you don't want to wear a seatbelt, that's your choice.
 
Why would I believe in violence from the KKK? That's ridiculous. People who preach hate are annoying as hell (such as the Westboro baptist church) but being stupid isn't illegal (unfortunately)

just don't forget - a death impacts other people. if a father wants to drink himself to death or jump out of bridge, don't forget that this impacts all family members and friends and they have to pay for it and suffer. it is our moral calling

TV is already pretty regulated. Video games should be at the parents discrepancy. Unfortunately, not everyone's a good parent.

And yeah I'm pretty much a libertarian. But I totally understand your point. I just don't like the fact of a government controlling everything. If I want to smoke till my lungs fall off, then that's my perogative. Not that I do, just saying. People need to care about themselves more, instead of having the government do that for them. (Like the law against no large sodas in New York....that's so ridiculous) next thing you know is a regulation on what size meal you can eat.

not necessarily.

this is a fluidic country with fluidic government system. if there's a problem, we address it as needed with an appropriate solution for that time.

ie - slavery was acceptable and legal in the past. and slavery is now unacceptable and illegal.

so there's a problem within our society and we will address it. don't like it? feel free to claim a land and be the Lord of the Flies.

so you would like it if the government backs off and let the industry do whatever it wants and however it wants? such as..... no FDA regulation and restriction on cigarettes and sodas and trust the industry to do the right thing?

I'm not saying you believe in violence from the KKK. I'm saying you should be very careful of what you wish for because you believe that we cannot and should not shelter everybody and First Amendment this, First Amendment that.

By your logic... while KKK preaches racism and bigotry which encourages and incites people to take action by any means including violence... you're saying that we should do nothing because of First Amendment and all we can do is just shrug and arrest people for assault, murder, vandalism, or rape. That's what you want, am I right?
