Not common Big Earthquake Hit Haiti

One most powerful picture and beautiful image. I feel sorry for her pain and loss her friends and family members.

Caribbean Sea make me little scare. That's not common for stronger earthquake.
My friends and I love scuba at Caribbean Sea. Most time, I used to snorkel at Cayman Island and outside from Colombia. If, we swim underwater when earthquake make us out of control, hit coral reef or rocks and can be drown like tsunami at asia
 
After learning more information about Haiti. Wow, it is like 9/11 in Haiti.
 
Looking ahead, I wonder if they will vastly upgrade their building codes? Its a sad looking scenario down there right now, though.

Just a thought - per captia:

If 200 people died in Australia, its pretty much comparable to WTC death toll of the USA.

1/2mil of Haiti deaths = 15,794,240 in USA deaths.

This is pretty serious.
 
As horrible as this is, death toll numbers are are usually not accurate especially right after disasters. I am guessing we won't know the real figures for months.

They did not make mistake. Not complete job to search. They just guess 500,000.
Still wait to see final offical.

We have no idea how many people dead by tsunami asia on Dec 26, 2004. They said over 300,000. Other people said different numbers. Still unknown how many people are missing.

Northeast USA always have very minor earthquake. Last time quaked in New Jersey (not far from New York City) on Dec 26, 2009. It was 2 Magnitude

Hubby suggested to me that America should send the unused "Katrina" mobile homes to Haiti for temporary housing. They can ship them over in the hangar bay of a Navy carrier or use a commercial container vessel.

Do not forget Ratio and population density - persons/square mile or people per building.

I doubt that +15 million people dead in the USA.

Puerto Rico People: There are about 1,000 people per square mile, a ratio higher than within any of the 50 states

Haiti do not have many Quake-Proof Buildings.

Compare to 1989 Earthquake in SF Calif. Less than 65 people dead.

What size of building and populars in Australia?

WTC had approx 50,000 workers and visitors before 8:40am. 2700 people are not success to get out from building. (+18 people death out of 500 people)

If, planes crashed WTC at 10:30am or 2pm. More like more than 4000 dead.

Bali's nightclub bomb by Bin Laden - 200 people dead. That's building is about same as Las Vegas's Hotel.

Too many collapsed vs not enough time to help.

They do most important places. Left out all other buildings which is less important.

They just guess how many people are trapped inside the building.
