I do remember riding on those yellow school buses from home to school in Canada (same yellow school bus as USA).

I do wish there is a similar Canada/USA school bus system in New Zealand and Australia. It would be a lot more safer for school kids.

your newest bus is a little red x jake? might not be economical as they think,

Looks like your typical Metropolitan transit bus. We have those in Little Rock.

Dixie, in the first post, was supposed to be the super sized one, that one is the second bus, the small version

Ah I understand now. But whatever happened to the double decker buses that London was once famous for??

Well, London still have double decker buses...but they're newer versions, not the old red Roadmasters double deckers...they were all retired.

We have new buses that runs on compressed natural gas here which is a good thing because no more smell of diesel exhaust :)

Most of current events is bombarded by Liebling's threads relating to USA so I thought it's time for a change.... news about EUROPE!!! :-o This UK bus thing is simple. London is infamous for traffic problem. They proposed introducing American-style school bus to reduce the congestion issue. :cool2:

Well, I created many threads over Europe news to ask them for feedback, opinion, etc in the past but I received a little responses. Few ADers said to me that why should they answer because they know a little about Europe but America and remind me that this is an American Forum that's why I posted rarely but mostly over health, receipes, parents and murders... until Election 08 fever....... addict on McCain/Obama news... :giggle:

Anyway, overthepond is correct.

P.S. some ADers and I were on US yellow school bus last year... Yellow US school bus is cool...

I m surprised that Europe does not have yellow bus ??! How can kids go to school ?

In city, London - Most walk to school... or get red bus/underground for one stop rarely...

Outside of London, school buses (coaches) like what overthepond described about.

Yes, it's still but for in city London, only.

There're different color buses in outside of London.

I guess it's not suitable for transporting kids. or maybe they just didn't think of it LOL! If you remember - the tourist bus has wide walking area in between seats so that wouldn't be practical for commuting purpose. and plus - I think it's dangerous for students.

*scratch my head*

They ride public transit...like train or bus...or parents take them to school..whichever works for them.

:Ohno: I wouldn't put my kids on there. Kids should be riding with kids not the public.

Group of school kids go together, never alone for just one or two stop.. Most walk to school - near school is common in London than outside of London.

Here in Germany - school bus which is different as in London.

Yup, that right, it's still existing in London and Hong Kong.

Also society in Europe is different from USA too, such as less crime than USA does.
