Ogo is NOT Dead - Rumor

Cingular has discontinued Ogo. Released by AT&T Wireless

Some reader comments said: One addition, the Ogo *is* dead, Cing will discontinue the service for existing subscribers sometime before Summer.

This information is very flawed. Exisiting ogo users are not being "cut off" and ogo still has a future, just not with cingular.

At this point, the offical word from IXI is as follows: "Cingular's policy is to support all current ogo users and plans are being finalized to go forward with the Ogo in the U.S. We read and appreciate all your feedback and do consider it as part of our future planning."

Cingular's Position as stated to me: "Existing ogo users will not lose the service they have been given. To do this would be unfair to the many customers using this unique product."

My interpretation from these statements: ogo is STILL here and WILL have a FUTURE

That is correct, but they will NOT open any new customer account!

Ogo sucks for me, because it had connection problems and ran very slow and was not reliable and I returned it and got a refund, I had the ogo several months ago.

No New Accounts - But there are alternatives and hope for the future.

Actually you are right about that, cingular will not open any new accounts - I am trying to compensate for that somewhat until the re-release with our ActiveSwap list - again visit my site for more info on that.

IXI will be re-releasing ogo - right now they are marketing it overseas but they are also finalizing plans to re-release in the U.S.

I have never heard of ogo is like SK2?

Sorry to hear about that. Just go and get another kind like SK2

I notice that my friends use sk2 not ogo.
I have a friend who is extremely addicted to his Ogo. In fact, he never goes anywhere without it. No one ever has a decent converstation with him nor does he ever get his work done... because he spends 75% of his time staring at his Ogo and typing away like it's an addiction.

my general opinion, OGO is very good for teenage and simple not much formal in it. But cheap. My friend had OGO, only thing he dislike is can't im anyone if they re on invisiable, and, can't get email into jpeg or gif (pictures). Also complained that its slow to recieve/sent sometime. He still addict to it cuz that only pager he have. But he is consider to switch to SK2 if OGO break.

The only thing I like about Ogo is that there is no cell phone so no surprises in billing like SK2. GRRRR But for coverage, and TTY relay ability, Im all for SK2.
