New School For Deaf Faces Neighborhood Opposition

Did the residents of the neighborhood expect that there would never be development of their area?

They should be glad that it will be a school built there and not something commercial or a few hundred more houses.

Did they ever consider that their pristine land would have been even more pristine if they had never built their own houses there?

Just another case of NIMBY.

"But we truly believe that the property that we've found … is really an ideal situation for our school," she said, adding that that the property has been designated a school site since 1977.

To me this means the residents should have expected a school sooner or later, and they should be grateful for all the years they had to watch the elk and bears roam around. Now it's time to welcome the new neighbors. :D

I understand their traffic concerns, but I'm sure the school will plan for that safely.

I can see a problem if it was going to be a mall or a nightclub, but a deaf school?? C'mon people!
