I am not sure where to put here General Chat or Auto Talk? Anyway, we got this from my friend on e-mail..... Here's what it says!!!!!! :jaw:

1. Carpool lane - first time $1,068.50 starting 7/1/08 (the $271 posted on the highway is old). Don't do it again because second time is going to be double. 3rd time triple, and 4th time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change - $380. Don't cross the lane on solid lines or intersections.

3. Block intersection - $485

4. Driving on the shoulder - $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone - Double fine as of 07/01/08. Cell phone use must be 'hands free' while driving.

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts - both passengers and drivers get tickets.

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

9. As of 07/01/08 cell phone use must be 'hands free' while driving. Ticket is $285. They will be looking for this like crazy - easy money for police department.

#7 - used to be 7 miles above the limit in old days but now it's 3 miles above the limit!!!!! Dang

I don't live in the US, but the list of fines seems very harsh; clearly a revenue grab.

wonder what rules is for us, in Australia :dunno: they're idiots anyway

idiots yes but smart in swimming in all the money they can get their hands on... I seriously think that the police has their own quota that they must meet at end of their shift such as getting at least 30 tickets speeding in order to meet the requirement to get more financial support of some kind.

Mod's note:

Thread's moved from General Chat to Auto Talk.

Those new fines are harsh.

W... T... F... !?

That's too harsh! Jeez!

Here in Texas, we have a lot of places where we have a very short time to change lanes... that we're stuck with solid stripes. :(

lol, thank to god, I left CA last 2 years ago.

I was going to wait until tomorrow to get on my computer but I will just go ahead and try this from my mobile device.

Sorry but this is a myth - I remember getting the same thing but different states (Texas and Georgia.) Check info on Snopes.com.
