I highly recomment you to seek the specialist doctor which I have mentioned such as "Nose, throat, and ear specialist which I had expreciend with this.. I ha surgery and I felt so much better. But for some pills sometimes they do not help but for nasal sprayer or nasal riniseb such as of what I have mentioned "NeiMed". Check this out www.neilmed.com

thanks for advice.... my doctor and my wife wanted me to see ENT. I am not interested in seeing ENT. i am allergic to medicine... my polyp becomes less... this thread is interesting depending on different opinion.

Update!

Just wanna to say that it has been updated since I had surgery and I went to see the dr last month and it went so smoothly and it was so successful! No more going through with sinus problems, and no more using nose tissues.. I have not had using nose tissues, and not really had sneezing much lately.. I am very satify with it.. Thank God! I am finished with it no more with kleenex or sneezing or no need to go to have cat scan or so! THAT IS IT! Finished!

Oh Wow ... That's good news to hear. Enjoy your freedom!

How long did you had the surgery? One hour in the operation? Was the polyps caused the problem?

I am really glad that your operation was successful.

I had one, too, but it was not successful for me because my doctor was no good. He had a sloppy job for not finishing removing other polyps. I remember I breathed so much better for one year. I had smell from foods, flowers, odors, and some others. I loved it. I believe that your operation is successful because your doctor knew how to do the right thing.

Now, what is this spray (Neilmed) for?

Ahhh,, it took approx. about an hour or an hour and half.. Yes the polyps caused it but before that they had to do on called "bridge" which meaning that it's between eyes and above center of nose that had been broken for long time and they had to straight it cause it gave me alot of headaches.

Thanks!

Really was it a specialist or regular doctor? Yes my operation went successful cause he has experienced that situation of what I have been going through and as you know that my doctor (nose, neck and throat specialist doctor) is actually from Germany!)

As for spray? Yes it is NeilMed you can look up the website.. I am using it for sinus rinse and it is very helpful alot.. That is why I use it so I don't have to go back and redo and having another surgery.. (See the girl that works at that dr. office had been going through fourth time till I told her to start using it and she used it and stopped going through.. So I best recommend u to find the best specialist and also using NeilMed.com which is very helpful alot.. I recommend u to get that... Guess what? I have not had cold (nasal) in almost two yrs. OOOOHHHHHH I am soooooooo happy to not have to go through this idiot cold... Oh man,, that specialist dr. and NeilMed help me alot!

Wow! I can't believe that you feel fine for two years! Who's your doctor from Germany? How did you find him? I rather to have a doctor from another country than here in the U.S. If you rather to pm me, that's fine with me.

You know most doctors here almost never do their homework to find out what's the cause because they request the information from above their boss or from FDA's top doctors. I met an allergy doctor two weeks ago at a lecture, and he recommended me to buy a steroid spray.

Later, I realized that there was a nose spray advertisement on TV that he talked about same name of the spray. I can't believe it and realized that the doctor must have seen it on TV because he just immediately believe it without a question in his mind. Of course, he didn't do his homework.

Yea I know what u mean.. I have been struggles with trying to find a best specialist through find on phone in my area and until I found one in Tallahassee, and that is when I walked in his office and I looked all at his certificates that he has been at colleges in USA and Germany. I realized and asked him questions.. Oh man! I would be more than happy to help u if u wanna us to find a better/best specialist in your state I dunno where u live!

Yea I know what U mean I have been through the yrs in other states no help until I myself found one in my city (Tallahassee, FL) As for "steroid spray" I had used what it called "Nasacort AQ" . That is what I have used it before and after surgery and it is very helpful! I didn't go to any lectures cause I don't believe unless I read their bio for real! So that's why I found one in here by myself especially my bridge!

Yeah, I seen that. I don't trust on tv only in real life person..

Can you ask Prespations staff and to see if nasal infection.. regluar shelves counter.. not harm preggy?

Worth shot!!!

I do reliable ask Prespations staff and find anything good suitable... from shelves counter

I had nasal sinus problems while I was pregnant with my daughter not long ago, and he recommoned me to use "sudfed" low dose. After my daughter was born it went away, just like captial tunnel went away and all the fluid. But I still get sinus problems due to other allgeries such as pine trees, ragweeds, pollen and dust. It's really a pain in the neck.

im usually sudafed for nose medicine to help my nose getting better but my nose still stuffed lots

Revival

I'm reviving Purr Meow's thread. I've had sinus problems for most of my life. A few months ago, I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and nasal polyps. I tried medical treatment for the condition, but I'm still getting sinus infections about every two weeks. Therefore, I opted to have surgery for the removal of the polyps. The surgery will take place this Wed. It will be outpatient. I will be home by the evening, and since I'm not having a general anesthetic (just being sedated with IV meds), I *may be* able to post by the evening.

I'm writing this to see if anyone has had this surgery and to find out exactly how bad it is, REALLY? I'm no stranger to surgery, but this one makes me squeamish. I don't like the thought of the surgeon's laser being *that close* to my brain. One slip, and.... OK, never mind! :giggle:

I'm being silly, but I'm also being a wimp about this one. I've had well over 30 surgeries in my life time, but this one makes me nervous.

i get hay fever every spring and fall and ti can lead to sinus infecton. i hate it.

good luck, oceanbreeze

I do, too. I've had issues ever since I was a kid. I really debated about having this done for alot of reasons. This will be my third surgery in two years, and for that reason alone, I wanted to try other things first. I tried antibiotics for the infections, nasal sprays and nasal washes, but none of that was effective. I have chronic sinus infections, and I can't stay on antibiotics indefinitely, so I opted for surgery. I hope against hope it's my only one, but I don't know. Most of the time, the polyps reoccur, so I'll probably have to have this surgery again, which really stinks! But, I'll roll the dice and hope for the best.

Thanks for your well wishes. Seems when I left AD, I was about to have surger, and now that I'm back, I'm about to have surgery. I could be accused of liking this crap! But, that is so not true!

Thanks, dear. I'll update this thread after things are done on Wed. :)

Gee, I also had a deviated septum and nasal polyps about 7 years ago. My deviated septum surgery was very successful. Actually, it was bleeding a lot. It doesn't hurt my nasal so far I remember. My polyps grow back in one year which disappointed me. You could try to get another surgery as long as you have a different doctor. Why? It's because the first doctor failed it which means that the doctor does not do a good job. Believe me. My doctor was very poor job. He quit his job in two months later because of me :)cool:), and he became a teacher to teach med students at a college. I bet that med students didn't know that he is a lousy doctor. I do not feel sorry for him because he didn't finish the job. I feel that I paid him for nothing.

I researched a lot about polyps and patients. Very rare patients do not get polyps back - say about 3 percents in the United States (Year of 2000). I met a man who had the polyps from his surgery, and his polyps never grow back. I was upset that I should have asked him who was his doctor and where did he went to the hospital. These questions were very important, but it was too late for me because I met him at a banquet.

I am using a QVAR nasal spray 40 mcg for once a while which seems working, but not perfect. Remember, after the surgery like 8 months later, you should start thinking about getting a good nose spray because this will definitely help you shrink your polyps so that they will not grow bigger. My new allergy doctor made his own nasal spray to install the inhaler which is very nice. He cut a small tube bottle in half and install it in the inhaler's plastic part. He is a great that he helps his patients with his own ways.

At last, Neti Pot (or other brands) helps to clear out the germs in your nasal. This is important to eliminate your bacteria with this treatment. You could use it everyday if you want to. Otherwise, you could get an infection in your heart from your sinus infection. I am tired of explaining to some people, and they nodded it, and then they never do it. They rather to see a doctor and do the surgery. They have to start all over for another surgery - going on and going on. Nothing is changed. This is very cruel that we have nasal polyps, and there is no cure for it. I am sorry to make you feel down about it.

I know what I'm up against. I knew that going into this, but I tried medical treatment and that didn't work. My question: How bad is the surgery? That's the question I want answered right now.

My surgery was bad because I had Coumadin which was level very low which was opportunity for me to have the operation. It is a minor swell from fixing my deviated septum which was not too bad.

I missed some of your posts that I would like to read if I have time. If you have not fixed your deviated septum, then you will definitely need it. For the polyps, you probably will need them to be removed so that you will feel a lot better.

Off subject, I had a leg infection for a very short time, I was on antibiotic IV at ER for about two hours. I able to breathe for some weeks. I realized that antibiotic pills do not work for me for my breathing nose. Mystery.

*sigh* WE I *know* this. Please, just tell me what the surgery was like, if you know. If you don't, then please don't post. Thank you.
