N.C.: Program Pays $1/Day to Girls For Not Getting Pregnant

The welfare system is so flawed and outdated it actually encourages women to have babies in order to get more money from the govt. Not exactly a self-esteem builder but more of a parasitic opportunist when others are more deserving.

Sorry. I disagree. It's not quite the same thing. The only thing similiar is that in both situations self-esteem and confidence are the results over time. That's about it.

Basically, self-esteem and the confidence does not need the money to be solved.

That I agree with.

The system is broken, that'sfor sure but bribery isnt the answer, IMO.

Just remember, if the mothers are not taking care of the children or use the government's money properly, the children are more likely to be taken by CPS.

Ok, let's see... Kokonut wants us to have a new welfare system which rewards people for being "good" and no money for people being "bad."

and me, I get nothing. Those bitches!

No worries! Here's some dollar for ya!

*hand you seven dollars*

Feel lucky now? :P

EDIT: The number, seven, is meant for lucky number. :)

Anyway - if I were a teen and there is a progarm like this link, I would sneaky in to give pregnant girls some dollars. Well, "good girls" do have a dark heart that you can't see.

Are you implying that the welfare system is perfect?

It's a fact. People do take advantage of the welfare system to the detriment of others. Purposefully getting pregnant in order to get welfare money.

ARGH!! (vent, long, pg, children ment, possibly everything ment) (diabetes diet stomach sperm pregnancy) - Mombu the Medicine Forum

Or have multiple babies in order to get more welfare support checks. They're known as "welfare gigolos."

Don't try and avoid the issue, Netrox.

Why do you think I am avoiding the issue - I am pointing OUT A simple fact that you only add an extra layer of welfare if you want the $1 a day plan. And when you talk about women who take advantage of welfare, well, those women would NOT use the "$1 a day" since they cannot get "more" money that they could with each additional baby.

At first glance, it sounds like a terrific idea but after careful consideration of all the facts and implications of that system, I decided it's not a good idea. It's wrong. It's immoral. It's unethical.

i read about this article. All I can say is that it is far better than free money from welfare because they DID get pregnant.

I think this program are the most foolish I ever seen in my life. It's like "I am not doing the drugs! Pay me!".

I hope this program don't teach the girls that if they don't get in trouble, they earn the money. They have to learn it on their own, JMO.

Exactly!!! I don´t pay my children to not do or learn something but positive EDUCATE them.

Yep. Should have been posted in Strange and Stupid News.:P

Yes, I am thinking the same.

First of all, That decision will be made by me, myself and I. If I want to have sex, I'll decide that for myself.

You as a boy have a girlfriend - Do you let the girl decide for you to have sex too or not?

The point is - No matter how trivial it is; I say, the first line of defense goes to BOTH, the girl and the boy. Of course, It's just how I see it that way. :)

Exactly!!!

It's the same thing, dear. I am ex-addict and recovered from it without anybody paying me except me paying off others who I owe to and with full of emotionally due to the withdrawal moods. I don't complain that they don't pay me to be sober, I am very proud for.... MYSELF. Not being pride of what I earn from being sober, but what I can do for myself and how others look at me.

Those adult women worked so hard to keep their children feeded, to be educated, and to have a home, when those children become adult, they can be the new benefit for the world. That's why the government support the poor families more than any.

I don't see any point for the girls who have supports from parents to earn money for to not be impregant. If they never have a baby, that's great and they should just continue focus on their life like going to school, maybe get a new job during the summers, etc. Because those are the reality. People don't pay people for being good, they pay for what they can do for others.

:gpost::gpost::gpost: You said BEST!!!

doing drugs is far different than pregnancy because for one, sex is something most people will eventually do, it is the matter of asking them to at least wait. Drugs is something people should NEVER do.

And other, once someone become a drug addict, We don't really pay for his education and such as we do with a child. In fact, when a teenage do become pregnant, their child is far more likely to become a drug addict do to stress (like poverty due parents dropping out of school, or the teen mother resent her child, being put in foster homes, etc.) So that's why we have a welfare system in the first place. We should award people for preventing pregnancy not the other way around.

i read about how girls back in the old day were treated with nice things (quilts, tea set, etc.) as gifts before she get married. She save it in a chest for when she start a family on her own (That's basically what $1 a day is really, an investment for their future family -- college) . i'm sure they would stop giving her these things if she got pregnant before marriage.

Not all of children who raised from teenage mothers that do the drugs. By the way, using the drugs is not the issues, but teach them the reward for to be good instead of teach them how to say no to the sex is the issue.

That is great that those girls are saving for college on their own because that's reality. Not earning from someone who are so much proud just because those girl don't get pregnant.

And I am sure that the parents will try to support the baby as best as they can if their daughter got pregnanted, or even send them to the adoption, or something.
