Mother of Palin daughter's boyfriend arrested

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska State Troopers have arrested the mother of Bristol Palin's boyfriend on drug charges.

Sherry L. Johnston was arrested Thursday after troopers served a search warrant on a Wasilla home. The 42-year-old Johnston has been charged with six felony drug counts.

Troopers did not identify the drug involved in a brief mention on the agency's Web site.

However, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said late Friday in a news release that the charges were in connection to the drug OxyContin, a strong prescription painkiller.

Johnston is the mother of 18-year-old Levi Johnston. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP nominee for vice president, announced in September that her 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, was pregnant and Johnston was the father.

Sherry Johnston was released from jail in Palmer on $5,000 bail. She was not scheduled to be immediately arraigned.

Peters said no one else had been charged. Few details could be released Friday because the investigation was ongoing, she said.

Palmer District Attorney Roman Kalytiak said information on the case had not yet been forwarded to his office.

It's unbelievable that this is newsworthy.

I can't wait until the press begins the same treatment of Caroline Kennedy S. and her family ties.

i can't tell if you were being sarcastic or not, but they will. you'll see. if you don't see it in the so-called "liberal media," you can definitely find it on fox news.
 
Well just because her daughter's boyfriend was on drugs doesnt mean she and others are on drugs either so...it is just about her daughter's boyfriend, nothing about sarah palin and it still doesnt entirely make her look a bad person.

She would only look like one if she does those things herself, yes?
 
Gee, I don't know....but if my 17 year old daughter was pregnant and marrying into a family where here mother in law to be had just been arrested on 6 felony drug counts, I would certainly consider it a problem. Especially if I was out in the public preaching abstinence and family values and catering to the Christian right. Yep, I'd be very concerned about the choices my daughter was making in her friends and associations. But then, Palin's running mate was married to a woman with a history of drug addiction, and of stealing drugs from a charitable foundation that were meant to go to 3rd world countries, so maybe they just don't see drug abuse as a problem.

But then, since he is still identified as her boyfriend in this article, maybe the marraige fell through since the campaign. :roll:

Well, I don't think Palin is very in tuned with her family. It sure as hell doesn't seem so.

If this was going on in our family, you'd bet your life my parents would have something to say about it AND it most likely would end in one of us (their daughters) NOT marrying baby's daddy and possibly baby being placed for adoption! Also, we, the daughters, would be grateful if we saw the light of day again until we were of legal age. My Daddy would be on the phone looking for a spot in a nunnery and ordering chastity belts!
 
Parents can not always control their children's choices. Surely, they can not control what the boyfriends Family does.

I don't understand why people look down on Palin for this.

Drugs can destroy people's lives even the ones who arent using them.
 
Can't get more "white trash" than this.

Though I gotta agree with Reba and a few others. It doesn't have much to do with Palin. But, if they find out that Bristol or her boyfriend knew about it and did drugs, then they could probably make that connection. Otherwise, it's just lame.

I honestly don't like Palin and don't want to see her in politics ever again.
 
I agree with SteelX and BabyBlue. I don't see how this have anything to do with Palin either. :scratch:

I personally think Palin cares more about her career then what is going on in her family.
 
That doesn't sound good. The wife of McCain had this problem at one point who had a doctor prescribe her illegally--painkillers.
 
It has nothing with Palin like way that.
 
Oh boy, This really nothing do with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Drug issues is not the MOST WORST CASE! as Soon-To-Be Ex-President bush's daughter was arrested on DUI too. I bet Judge will send him to drug rehab/ therapist.. Mm.. So this whats point?
 
Funny, how people always try to tie trouble with a famous person by affiliation. Known or unknown.
