Gates: Russian threats are 'provocative' - Russia

What do you think?

I think Obama and Medvedev should negotiate each other to solve something than ignore each other to make worst?

It look like that Medvedev hope to have a good relationship with US, not like what he did with Bush Adminrastion in the past?...

Medvedev said after Obama won the president-elect. He will cancel for missile. I don't want to see COLD War in Europe again.

Yup, same here.

I want to visit Europe for tour. I want to see the old history of museum and build in Europe. I hate to see war in Europe cause destroy the value historic.

Liebling,
Please excuse me for :topic: I want to tell how do I feeling. That's good thing Medvedev's plan to cancel.

Pinky, no problem... ;)

Yes, Medvedev will cancel only if Obama agrees to cancel the planned American anti-missile defense system.

Obama not backing down

Obama hasn't been swayed by inflamed Russian rhetoric over the missile system

But Obama stated as recently as Saturday, Nov. 8, in a telephone conversation with Polish President Lech Kaczynski that he would not shy away from the anti-missile system, despite persistent pressure from Moscow to do so.

"Barack Obama has underlined the importance of the strategic partnership between Poland and the United States," Kaczynski said in a statement after the talk. "He expressed his hope of continuing the political and military cooperation between our two countries.

"He also said the anti-missile shield project would go ahead."

The US plans to build 10 interceptor missiles on Polish territory and a radar facility in the Czech Republic by 2011 to 2013. The new components would complete a system already in place in the US, Greenland and Britain.

Washington says the shield -- endorsed by NATO in February -- is aimed at defending against potential attacks by so-called "rogue states" such as Iran and North Korea and would not be aimed at Russia....
I hope Obama does NOT back down.

me too. We're helping those little men to be able to defend themselves against Russia. Russia DOES NOT want that. Same for Taiwan - China.

I'm quitely not understand, you means that you want Obama to keep developing anti-missile shield?

He seems he may know what he is doing... Well, I really hope he does and, like Reba said, I also hope he is not going take a "back down" option... =/ Who knows?

I'm quitely not understand, you means that you want Obama to keep developing anti-missile shield?

Yes. That's precisely what Reba, Hear Again, and I are saying. Anti-Missile Shield is a DEFENSE capability - it cannot be used to attack other country but what do you think why Russia STRONGLY does not support this?

Yup, Russia is too hard to trust because they could be lying for launch the missile.

I hope Obama will not back down because I can't trust on Russia.

not "lying" to launch missile but Russia may flex its muscle on little countries. why? 1 word - OIL. oh and another word - PIPELINE. that's usually a major reason of Russian's aggression.

Incorrect, look at history.
The U.S. Senate approved the purchase of Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for $7.2 million at 2 cents per acre, about 5 cents per hectare. When adjusted for inflation, the total sum paid equates to approximately $360 million in 2008 dollars. The land went through several administrative changes before becoming an organized territory on May 11, 1912 and the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959. The name "Alaska" was already introduced in the Russian colonial time, when it was only used for the peninsula and is derived from the Aleut alaxsxaq, meaning "the mainland", or more literally, "the object towards which the action of the sea is directed."[5] It is also known as Alyeska, the "great land", an Aleut word derived from the same root.
