Hi everyone!

I adopted a 9 weeks old Siamese mix kitten (named Maxwell) from the animal shelter last August. Now, he is 3.5 months old going on 4 months on Oct 15th. He is getting big. I fall in love with him when I first saw him because he has blue eyes and is cream and white with tiger like markings on him. So, I took him in. I bought him some nice toys, to play with. I am spoiling him. :giggle:
Maxwell follows me everywhere, even in the bathroom. He sleeps with me every night.
I will bring him to the vet tomorrow morning to have him neutered. Also, they will install a tiny microchip with a specific indentifying code in the space between his shoulder blades. So, he won't feel a thing, which is good but the question is that do you think it is worth for my kitty to have a microchip since he stays indoors? My former cats never had a microchip before. Does your cat or dog have a microchip? Does it work? Like pros and cons.

Any advice? :ty:
Sosie
P.S. I hope everyone is well.

Hey Sosie,
Great to hear about your newest addition. Good thing you're deaf, so you don't have to hear him yowl often! :)
Glad you adopted him from animal shelter.

My cat's a Ragdoll and he doesn't roam outside our backyard. But I had him microchipped in case he did wander away or was catnapped.

No idea if it works but I hope it will if the worse has happened.

So do it just to be safe.

Have many fun years with Maxwell :)

Joey got microchipped at the rescue league. All the pets do before they go home with you.

Even if your cat is an inside cat, he could still slip out when you did not notice. Microchips are great.

We had a labrador retriever loose on our street last year, and it got home because of it's microchip.l

aww congrats on your newest addition and family! bet Max is adorable!! Speaking of microchips that I didn't get my three kitties. I know I should have done but. Since you have thought about it then it will make you feel better to have max microchip and give your peace of mind?
Can't wait to see the photo of max. :D

Thanks, everyone! I love Maxwell because he is soooo sweet.
(I just PM'ed FF, I hope she gets my message and she probably will post some pictures of my kitten here on the Pictures/Videos section for me.)
Ah, it does make sense. OK, I have decided to have him microchipped. It still makes sense. Thanks!!!
Last night, Maxwell has fleas because I noticed that he scratches himself a lot. I knew that I may get fleas from him but unfortunately, I got flea bites when I woke up this morning. I scratch myself. No fun!!!! (I don't know where did he get fleas from? My former cats didn't have any fleas.) Grrrrr... Perfect timing, I am taking Maxwell to the vet today. I will ask them to see if they can give him a flea bath ASAP. I am sure they will!
I better sign this off for now because I have to take a shower (I feel itchy all over my body, which is uncomfortable. Yucky!!!), get dressed and then, I have to take Maxwell to the vet. I will write you later when I get back but I have to clean up my place first, to kill all the damn fleas. What a fun?!!!
Thanks again,
Sosie =^..^=

NO! YOU CANNOT POST A THREAD ABOUT KITTENS WITHOUT PHOTOS!!!!!!!.... thats not on Sosie!! LOL... I am sure he's so cute!

My cat (at 16) does not have microchip, I don't see the point now days as she's old and doesn't stray far (she's in and out cat) If she was a kitten I would have had it done.

However my little dog had been microchipped since he was 13 weeks old (after 2nd puppy jab) He's now 4, at yearly check up for booster Jabs, the vet scans him to check if the chip is still working accurately.

Every 2 months for small fee my vet posts wormer tablets/flea drops for both animals so I never miss making sure they are worm/flea free according to seasonal changes (stronger flea drops for damp seasons etc)

I am sorry I wasn't on AD all day!! I replied back to Sosie. I am dying to see the tiny furkid soon!

Max is so beautiful!

Yes is a great idea to have your cat microchip, your cat could get out of the house by mistake . And having a microchip will help get your cat back home. Could you post some pictures of you new kitty? I am nut about cats!! And if you happen to change your address or phone number remember to tell that people that are putting the microchip. I forgot to do that with my dog , but I am lucky he never got lost.

Thanks for congratulating on my new addition, Miss-D (I love Ragdoll cats. I was thinking of adopting one more but my townhouse's policy is a cat or dog or no pets at all. *sighs*. I have no choice.) and Frisky Feline and everyone. I enjoy Max every minute! He is a such good cat. (When I took him to the vet. He hissed at the vet assistant and staff. What an interesting character he had today! He got a clean bill of health, according to the vet. Yay! They gave me his tag.
Thanks for your nice compliments, everyone!
AlleyCat, that one is one of my favorite pictures. Thanks. :D
Yes, it is worth that Max has a microchip, which is active now. That makes peace of my mind, FF. The Home Again Micro Chip co is wondering what he is doing all day since he is a very, very active cat. He is still playing with his favorvite toy, which he got when he was a 9 weeks old. I wish he should slow down because of his surgery. I have to watch him to make sure that he doesn't lick at the incision too much or otherwise, it will get infection. If he continues licking at it and then, I will call the office, to tell them to pick up the Elizabethan collar for him to wear.
Wow... I didn't realize that the pictures are sooo big. Thanks so much for posting them here for me, FF.
I am going to bed now since it's a long day for me. I am sooo tired. I will reply some of you tomorrow.
Thanks again.

hi there, sosie (and maxwell!! wow, looks a lot like one of my cats, hard to find..). :D

I'm so glad you had him microchipped!! all of my cats are. in past my apartments collapsed twice and at least 5 cats escaped (had 12 at that time)--microchips helped a couple coming back home.

they too would have been stolen if not for my name/address registered on that little chip. even vet/vet techs could, exchange cats--who knows. best safe than sorry. congratulations on new furaddition! he's lucky to have you providing him a good loving home. :) :)

He's so adorable!!! I want to fly over, and take him home!! LOL... He's beautiful, is he going to be ginger or light brown tabby? I had a saimese once, she was more of gray rather than Cream as stated on her passport. Sadly she was stolen (it was long time ago). I have maine coon cross, Misty (16 now) at the moment, she was out of feral farm tabby and the daddy's a house maine coon who escaped to a farm resulting kittens. The other cat, Molly, is a strange looking rag doll, not cream type, more of all black with beige ends (she looked as if she had been sun bleached) but had the obvious squashed face like rag dolls have, and as lazy as ragdolls are!. She's a 4-6 year old rescue cat.

Hi everyone!
Sorry, I didn't get back to you any sooner. I had to fly down to FL, to take care of my parents for a couple of weeks. I spoke with my mother and she says she's having a rough week. My stepfather missed the toilet with a bowel movement. (He has Alzheimer's disease.) She can't bend enough to clean up the floor well, so that is slightly messy in spots and won't get cleaned until her housekeeper returns in November. (My mother had total knee replacements a few years ago.) He continues to refuse to shower, so that episode caused smears on the bed, and general stink coming off of him, which really annoys my mother.
Then, she fell down onto the floor and could not get herself up. Fortunately, my stepfather heard her yelling. He tried to help her but couldn't get her up. He brought her the phone, and she was able to call for help. She says she is a little sore but otherwise OK. I wish they live closer to me and my other 4 siblings. I found this very frustrating! *sighs*
I am still looking for a Halloween costume for Maxwell but no to avail. I will make a last stop at the pet stores in a famous Witch city - Salem, MA. Hopefully, they have some. Why not have your pets wear their own Halloween costumes? Why not have out pets enjoy this, too? I think you can dress up your pets. This should be fun!
Thanks, Botti.
Miss-D, me, too, I put my favorite picture background on my laptop.
Thanks, Freckles, me, too, I am glad I had him microchipped. It's a life saver, so, I don't have to worry about it. Wow.. I am glad some of your cats are OK. It's scary.
LOL, Overpond, no, you can't take Maxwell home with you but you can come here and pet-sit him while I am away. It's hard to tell that he has either Ginger or light brown tabby because he is still cream and white with markings on him but I noticed that he has some gray on it. The color will changes when he gets older. Beautiful cats, you have there. It sounds like a persian characterized by it's round face and shortened muzzle. I love all different kinds of cats. I really want to adopt one more kitten but my townhouse's policy is not allowed to have two pets. I am planning to sell my place soon to move a bigger place. I need two bathrooms.
I apologize for not replying you the sooner.
:ty: again, everyone.

Hi, it's me again. I forgot to add that I took Maxwell to the vet for a check-up yesterday. He is in a good health except his ear mites (again). :(
The vet gave me his medication to treat his ear mites, (for 10 days). I will bring him in again next month, to make sure his ear mites are clearing up. I pray it will NOT come back again.
Maxwell gains another pound, according to the vet. He's getting big!!

I love to play the games like the Cat Purrsonality Quiz under About.com: Cats. For example,
What Kind of Cat are You?
You are a PERSIAN CAT

Your inner beauty shines through, and to know you is to love you. You are affectionate and giving, and though you are popular, inside you are a home-body. You'd rather be surrounded by family, and those you love the most.

You take good care of yourself, both physically and emotionally. Your idea of bliss is a lovely soak in a tubful of bubbles, followed by an evening by the fire, wrapped in a warm robe (or the arms of your loved one.)

Your only fault is that sometimes you need to be reminded of how special you really are.

Thanks to Stephen Chapman, About.com Guide to Javascript, for the use of his Personality Quiz Script

It's interesting! You should try to play this game, to see what kind of cat are you? Have fun!!!

Sosie,

yeah It's difficult to get rid of mites but they will go away eventually since max lives with you in a lot of loving, secure and purring conditions. :D
