I took a mammogram test today. It is my second time. Over age 40, women should take mammogram every year. My doctor said so.

It is not fun but worth it. It not hurt me that much.

I never had a mammogram before -- I'm 35....my doctor said that I should get one when I am 40 which is about 5 years from now. :)

I heard from other women that it hurts -- is it THAT bad?

It doesn't hurt; it is just a little awkward or uncomfortable. I have had several.

One hint for more comfort: don't get the mammogram on a day in your monthly cycle when your breasts are swollen or tender (sensitive).

Another hint: don't drink caffeine before the test; that makes you more sensitive to pain.

I notice that there are 62 views, so maybe they are interested but just not posting.

It's a good post regardless of how many replies you got! The more awareness there is of this sort of thing, the better. I just didn't bother to post earlier as I'm under 40 and have not yet experienced having a mammogram.

I've not have had a mammogram yet cuz I'm nearly 40. I should get one in the near future. I heard a few ladies that had a experience feels painful when it strech or press a bit hard. Isn't correct? Interesting. :(

It is uncomfortable but not unbearable. It only lasts a minute. When it is over, the pain is gone. If you go at the right time of month, don't drink caffeine that day, and relax, it will reduce the pain. It is done very quickly.

i did took it alike 4 years ago, cuz, they felt a lumpus on my breast, so took mammgram, and my mom did warned me its hurts. so, i did took it, told mom, it isn't hurt that time she was w/ me while wait for xray say seem ok before go home. So, they wanted more deep test, i was like urgh, and i do it again, they use different way, its PAINFUL! (ouch!) then the result come out, nothing bad.. whew..

I havent took that test yet. My mom had to removed some stones in her breast. Now, she's all good. I gotta take a test soon.

My 49 years old cousin had pap smear and mammogram...
but then doctors go oops, they misread her scan.

My cousin told them that her shoulders hurt really bad...
And the doctors won't admit their mistake...
and told her she got cancer in uterus, liver, and in other organs...

She died 9 months later. :(

So mammogram sucks.
