When it come to mall security guards, I don't expect much from them. They are often untrained when it come to handling weapons. Some malls may hire professionally trained guards, but I'm pretty certain many don't.

whenever something like this happens, there are always people who are "what's the big deal? big shootings like this happen every day in inner cities."
Not quite. I mean gangland violence is bad, but it's somewhat expected and predictable. It's basicly like Mafia killing. If you're involved in dangerous stuff, then of course you're gonna be at higher risk for getting hurt or killed.
Something like this is a lot more strange, b/c it was just so random and unexpected. i wonder if they'll ever find out why he did something like this.

I've heard about it on the news what surprised me the most is that Angel, our step-mother and I go to that very same mall in Nebraska when we shop for our children's back to school clothes. :Ohno:

Yes that is so sad, and scary to know that no where is safe for any of us. My thoughts and prayers for them.

Did you know that mall security didn't carry guns? I don't know how they could stop a shooter?
 
I was just watching MSNBC on tv...the recent update was that the shooter hid the assault rifle under a hooded jacket so even the security cameras couldnt tell what it was.

6 of the deceased were employess of that store and 2 were customers. According to the report, most of the shooting happened in the customer service area of the store and that was where most of the employees were at. The store owner has to make the decision on when to re-open the store..that must be tough for him to make.

AK-47 is definitely not small gun.
There is something they could have stopped him.
Omaha is not big city, I am sure that they don't expect this to happen. I am sure that those security mall in New York, Chicago, Miami, DC, or any other big cities are well-secured compares to Omaha.
It could happen everywhere, therefore every places must be 100% secured, even in the Amish community.
