Losing your DL (driver's license) can be a hazzle...

Been with my Bank for over 20 years....never had a problem!...Seems this was a new Teller or someone who was in a hurry and was not careful....

Actually, I had some very, very "choice words" for the manager that came out to my car to talk with me!.....

So seeing and now believing....how "easy it is" for your DL to get misplaced at a Bank drive-thru....and not a dang thing you can do except go apply for a renewal at the DMV...but have all the paperwork they require....Or you have to run around and get all the paperwork up....
But why did you have to show a DL at the bank to make a deposit in the first place? Especially since you've been a customer for over 20 years.

It's always been a requirement, Reba...and it was the drive-thru,(cars only)... not the walk in bank. Vystar has many locations...and of course many customers....and just because I've banked there many, many years, they will still require a DL...

I got a duplicate for like $10 when I lost mine. I remember when VA used SSN for the number, but they also had a two piece DL at the time - the picture and common info plus a slip of paper with your qualifications or restrictions if I remember right.

Which states do that?

It's illegal:

http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/PLAW-108publ458/pdf/PLAW-108publ458.pdf

SEC. 7214. PROHIBITION OF THE DISPLAY OF SOCIAL SECURITY ACCOUNT NUMBERS ON DRIVER’S LICENSES OR MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATIONS.
(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 205(c)(2)(C)(vi) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 405(c)(2)(C)(vi)) is amended—
(1) by inserting ‘‘(I)’’ after ‘‘(vi)’’; and
(2) by adding at the end the following new subclause: ‘‘(II) Any State or political subdivision thereof (and any person acting as an agent of such an agency or instrumentality), in the administration of any driver’s license or motor vehicle registration law within its jurisdiction, may not display a social security account number issued by the Commissioner of Social Security (or any derivative of such number) on any driver’s license, motor vehicle registration, or personal identification card (as defined in section 7212(a)(2) of the 9/11 Commission Implementation Act of 2004), or include, on any such license, registration, or personal identifica- tion card, a magnetic strip, bar code, or other means of communica-
tion which conveys such number (or derivative thereof).’’.

My state use to do this .

this web site said most has stopped printing SS # on DL , so according to this web site some states still do this .

Drive-thru bank for that ridiculously messed up incident? Forget it. I'd rather go inside and make a deposit. No headaches.

I heard of one guy using the drive thru to made a deposit and he put his check in the drawer and huge wind blew came in the check when flying out and the guy could not find it. Talk about headaches!

I can't understand why the bank did not call the cops to try and go after the
person that got your DL by mistake. They knew it was not their and seen like they should be in trouble for not returning it to the bank.

Did you make a police report?

I was with commerce for 25 years, after my injury and no activities with my account for 1 year they shut it down, I was grandfathered in for the totally free account and they took my money as well as closed my account, I fought like hell with them to get it back and they wouldn't, said it was unfair to other members who had to pay for their accounts. For 1 I don't give a shit about other members 2 they don't know shit about my account 3 I got screwed and I refuse to do business with them, and they loss out on 2 big settlements I had to deposit already,,,hahahahaha

Missouri, you have a choice to put your ss on it or get a number, I have a number, not putting my ss# on it.

I think my state Massauchettes is the same. We did not always have a choice , the web site I posted said some states started allowing this about 16 years ago. I hated having my SS# on my DL!

Sorry to hear it happened to you.

My thoughts exactly! The person that didn't return it ought to be in trouble. The teller should be able to narrow it down who they gave it to.

Interesting. We deal with several banks and credit unions, and none of the drive-thru tellers have ever required DL or ID for making just deposits.

We almost always use the drive-thru, too. In fact, one bank branch that TCS uses for his business account is drive-thru only.

I thought my bank sucked because of $30 overdraft fees, I just go to the window or inside if I need to deposit money, if I withdraw, I just use the ATM or go inside. I would complain higher up in that bank and keep complaining until something happens, even if it is just you switching banks.

This sounds like a major headache. I worked with a guy that used his brother's ID when stopped for DUI. My coworker was on the phone for weeks to straighten things out. Also, I know of a woman that made a mistake at the pharmacy, giving a prescription to the wrong person. She lost her job immediately.

BTW, glad to see you posting again, RR. I'm getting ready to head out for more fishes. Be back when I "feels" like it.

Yeah I've never heard of that. In fact you can deposit money in someone else's account, it's when you want to get money out that you need to show your ID, that the accounts yours. Once upon a time I was a member of a credit union and we had membership IDs we had to use to make deposits, still differ though.

Me? Ever since they started scanning checks at the ATM I just use that now.

Yeah...it realllllly was a "major headache"....so I'm holding my DL like a big, fat Diamond.....all that running around in downtown Jacksonville (big city)...the gas...the waiting in lines...filling out paperwork...no intrepretor, so I was on "my own"....getting back and forth to the bank for reimbursement also!

And as one poster asked..."Did you call the Cops"> ....say what?...what are they gonna do?....:giggle:...and I was sitting in my car outside the bank while the tellers were looking and calling members to try to find my DL....and I had to drive to the DMV WITHOUT a DL....Supposed I had gotten stopped for some reason?...and if I had of called the Cops...then I couldn't drive!...No DL....

Ahhhhh...hope it never happens to anyone here at AD.

This is about Mortgage, nothing to do with checking account. Do you have any clue the history how BOA got into mortgage mess? BOA's mortgage mess was originated by Countrywide mortgage corp, and yes Countrywide mortgage did shady business in mortgage and sold to BOA, so BOA got trapped in mess.

Guess what? BOA isn't only one, There are other banks that have done dirty businesses.

Bank of America whistle-blower’s bombshell: “We were told to lie” - Salon.com

Some home owners lost their the comfort of their living room by using BOA.
I once saw a whole page in a news papers about BOA getting busted .
