About 2 or 3 weeks ago, went to the drive-thru bank to make a deposit...they require your DL...so I drove up, took out the bin, put the $$ in along with the paper slip and my DL....Several others cars were there also.

When I got my deposit slip back, they did not include my DL...so I sent it back and wrote..".my DL please"....They looked all over for it in the bank....seems a teller ad put my DL into another customer's bin...

Told me to pull over to the side and wait while they called the previous members via cell phone....no answer....and no one came back to return my DL after 1 hour of just sitting outside waiting and waiting....

Had to drive to the DMV...(without a DL)....they required my Birth Certificate and a copy of my divorse....I was able to acquire a 60 day temporary permit to drive, cost me around $7.00.....went back home, found my birth certificate but a copy of my divorse, I didn't have it....Had to go downtown to Vital Statiscs...the location said they only gave them out if the person was DEAD...sent me to another place. Took another hour to find it....waited in line, filled out the paperwork. Paid another $5.00 for it...back to the Bank and got a refund....

Too late to get back to the DMV...had to wait 2 days before I could bring in all the paperwork to renew my license....another waiting period of about an hour and a half (packed with people)...Paid another $31.50 for renewal....back to the bank and got a refund....and I "politely" asked...."What about my time, my gas and all the HAZZLES?" Am I gonna be reimbursed for that?...

Again they said..."We apologize for all the inconvenience mamm...but we are not allowed to do that."

I'm still livid over the whole mess!...And when I went to the bank today to make a deposit...I wrote on paper...."DO NOT LOSE MY DL!"...Make sure that you put it back into the right bin!

Wow, that's terrible!

Your bank requires a DL for a deposit? Maybe it's time to switch banks.

every bank Ive used only required DL for withdrawl... but lately they've been asking for it for deposits????

I would recommend a permanent withdrawal. :thumbd: and open new accounts at a new bank or credit union. :welcome:

never heard of such thing

Does your DL have your social security # on it ?? I know some states use your SS # as your DL ID # . If it does I would think about trying to get a new SS# and have your bank give a free new account # .

Which states do that?

It's illegal:

SEC. 7214. PROHIBITION OF THE DISPLAY OF SOCIAL SECURITY ACCOUNT NUMBERS ON DRIVER’S LICENSES OR MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATIONS.
(a) IN GENERAL.—Section 205(c)(2)(C)(vi) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 405(c)(2)(C)(vi)) is amended—

Drive-thru bank for that ridiculously messed up incident? Forget it. I'd rather go inside and make a deposit. No headaches.

Any time I make a deposit anywhere I'm never asked for my ID. Just the name on the account and address confirm or zip to make sure it's not another person with the same name. Whether it's my bank, or I've made deposits in my mothers account and never had to have an ID. The way I see it, hey you want to donate money to this persons account, go right ahead! To pull money out, that's a different story. I've been with Chase for years now, and my mother goes through Wells Fargo. Like I said, never once had to ever show an ID to make a deposit, that's just stupid. I'd definitely switch banks. o.o

Switch to BOA! You can cash your checks from the comfort of living room! I have done that and had no issues. Why bother waste gas go to bank and risk losing drivers license, eh?

I use an app on my phone to make e-deposits through SunTrust. It's been months since I used a branch for transactions, though work-wise, it's completed by direct deposit. But I can't believe you got the runaround for a replacement DL? :ugh:

You couldn't just get a duplicate???

Nope!...Had my SS card, insurance and car insurance card....and all of that....but they said that Homeland Security will not accept anything but your Birth Certificate and a copy of your divorse.marriage certificate....

I pleaded and begged!....Didn;t happen!....Things really have changed since 9-1-1

Been with my Bank for over 20 years....never had a problem!...Seems this was a new Teller or someone who was in a hurry and was not careful....

Actually, I had some very, very "choice words" for the manager that came out to my car to talk with me!.....

So seeing and now believing....how "easy it is" for your DL to get misplaced at a Bank drive-thru....and not a dang thing you can do except go apply for a renewal at the DMV...but have all the paperwork they require....Or you have to run around and get all the paperwork up....

talk to manager at bank???

HAHA!...I cussed the manager out!...And don't feel bad about it either!...Feel that Teller got fired...or at least I hope so...all the mess she put me through....

Then again, accidents do happen...but it really raised my blood pressure to the boiling point!
