wow 150 bases closure. It will be annouce at 10:30 a.m.

My husband works at Fort Hamilton, New York. I am keeping my eye on the list... :(

I hope Sen. Lieberman can save the Sub Base in New London.

I am glad to see that the Navy Hospital at Charleston was not on the list. We use their services.

I see that the Naval Weapons Station Charleston is listed for realignment. Not sure yet what that includes. It is very important here, so I hope it will continue to grow.

I remember the previous BRAC that closed our main Navy base in Charleston. It was awful! All the ships and subs left. Very sad. :(

George Bush is starting to eliminate some military bases. In fact, he doesn't like Connecticut because many people voted for Kerry. He is supposed to support our country no matter which side of the political. He forgot to respect our people. What a ridiculous!

Oh man! I try to find Fort Hood Base or Red River Base somewhere in list. I hope it not happens. We need military bases for everyone to guard.

yeah we need BASE!

I don't think it matters whether or not Bush "likes" a state. My state, SC, voted for Bush. I just found out that we will lose 1,200 jobs from the local bases here.

No, I was born in New London, and I used to live in New London, Waterford, and Groton, and I have many family and friends there. When I was in the Naval Reserve, I sometimes did my two-week annual duties at the Sub Base. Some of my family worked at the Shipyard there.

Boy I read and then checked other website as of AJC and 11alive.com and the news said that 7 Ga. military Facilities may close. One of these whom my uncle used to work there. He retired long time ago..

i dont think he did that on purpose. Prez. Clinton did close some bases. i am sure Kerry would close the bases too. the military has closing the bases since 1988 after cold war was over.

I see, my brother has a sailboat down in Mystic and New London to the Long Island, NY it is so beautiful view the shipyard at the ocean.

It is so sad to seeing alot of people are laying off. Wish, there is stopped IRAQ war to save our american economic especially our children and grandchildren's future jobs. It is scary to see another great-depression in this country like during world war 2.

hanscom airfore base and natick labs base are not closing. Whew !

Preliminary information indicates that the SSC will NOT be closing. We are earmarked for a minor realignment involving 19 positions.

Umm...OK. I'm screwed in my area.

Newport Chemical Depot in Indiana (about 20-30 miles north of where I am) is to be closed. Umm....right now, Newport is in the the starting stages of neutralizing the nation's VX nerve agent.

I love Mystic. That is a most beautiful area.

The Great Depression began in 1929; World War Two began for the United States in 1941.

Oops, sorry, :topic:

Does anyone know that if Bush pulls "his" soldiers out of Iraq or did not invade Iraq, a country that don't have WMD, these bases would not close down. Iraq war alone costs much more than these bases... As usual, reality is on my side. This day is indeed sad for many of us.

Malfoyish, so far the base where your husband works at will not close or did not name in this list.

Sabrina, "It is scary to see another great-depression in this country". Indeed, it will be much worser than 1930s.
