That's the scenario as I see it, unless she meant something different.Okay - I see the OP's question like this:
Grandparent's have a minor son. This son could be 14-17 (thinking of possible ages a boy would have sex and produce a child.)
This minor son and the girl involved have a child. The girl has custody of the grandchild and since the minor son is a minor, they are asking if the grandparents are then responsible for the child support that normally the father would pay the mother.
In this scenario, I was advised by a friend, (who is an attorney involved in child support and child custody cases), that the grandparents were not responsible at all. Most states will allow a teenager to have a job. Some jobs for school-aged applicants do require a work release form to verify the applicant is still attending classes or whatever. That money then would go towards child support. The father of this grandchild would be the only one responsible if the mother has custody and likewise the mother would be responsible if the father had custody.
I am speaking of 15 years old boy who isn't with baby's mother. Can his parents pay child support until he becomes 18?
