Are the grandparents' liable to pay their minor son for child support?

I don't understand the question ...

Can you explain a bit more about what you mean?

(I can't think of a situation where grandparents would pay child support unless the child was orphaned, one set of grandparents (maternal or paternal) got legal custody and adpted the child, then divorced. Even in this situation it's highly unlikely because an orphaned child would almost certainly have life insurance money from the parents as well as be receiving their parent's SSI death benefit (I'm not sure exactly what its called in the USA) - these monies are meant to pay for daily living expenses for the child - so additional "child support" would be highly unlikely.

1) Grandparents can only have a grandson, impossible to have a son.

2) Of an older couple adopted a young boy, that boy would become their son. They would be liable for his support and care until he is 17/18 years old but this is not called child support in America. It is called parental support (sometimes referred to as ordinary care/support).

A sidenote: I do have 3 granddaughters- 2 sons in the late 30s. I don't any
legal requirements re support.
Hope my granddaughters do take up swimming- 2 of them do at the present time.

You will need to elaborate....do you mean the "son" is a minor and the "grandparents" are actually the "son's" parents?

If yes, it all depends on the court's final decision.

Parents are responsible for their children's actions, yes.

Okay - I see the OP's question like this:

Grandparent's have a minor son. This son could be 14-17 (thinking of possible ages a boy would have sex and produce a child.)

This minor son and the girl involved have a child. The girl has custody of the grandchild and since the minor son is a minor, they are asking if the grandparents are then responsible for the child support that normally the father would pay the mother.

In this scenario, I was advised by a friend, (who is an attorney involved in child support and child custody cases), that the grandparents were not responsible at all. Most states will allow a teenager to have a job. Some jobs for school-aged applicants do require a work release form to verify the applicant is still attending classes or whatever. That money then would go towards child support. The father of this grandchild would be the only one responsible if the mother has custody and likewise the mother would be responsible if the father had custody.

That's the scenario as I see it, unless she meant something different.

I am speaking of 15 years old boy who isn't with baby's mother. Can his parents pay child support until he becomes 18?

Has paternity been established?

Is the child support court ordered?

This is totally a legal issue, and it would have to be answered by a lawyer from that specific state.

best to take it up to Family Court and lawyers. too hard to say cuz of different state laws and circumstances.

Well - if a person is willing and really wants to, anyone can pay child support. The question is, is the mother demanding that the father's (minor son) parents (grandparents) to pay the child support. In that case, it should be taken to family court.

I'm beginning to see what the issue is with the OP. Here is my viewpoint.
If a set of parents have a minor son, they are responsible for his actions.
If we were to say that this minor son sets fire to someone else home, then the parents are held responsible. That is in addition to any criminal charges brought against the minor son.
If this minor son gets a girl pg. and has a child, then the parents would have responsibility depending on state laws because there is no federal law to cover this issue.
