Leave it to the government

If you are going to ponder that, Ponder why we pay taxes yearly on cars and homes...ect... its illegal to tax anything twice but the government can tax you all they want...hmmmm?

I was told when I lived in Northern California if anyone had redwood trees on their land they had to pay taxes on the trees. I have no idea if this is true.
When I sold my house in Berkeley Cali. I did have to pay monument tax , there was some monument on the street in front of my house and my realtor was not even aware of it as it did not come up when I brought my house. Yeah I know the government want to put a tax of bottle water so people will recycle their bottles then get their money back . The government know very well that there will be a lot of people not doing this and that they'll make $$$ on it.

My state wanted to have farmers pay a cow tax on each cow they owned , the state said when the cows farted they polluted the air. So I guess it really could be called a fart tax.

Depends on where you are and if you get caught if its a law there yet.

Where I live now, no. Water right is not required for rooftop rainwater harvesting. I can build a really big water cistern if I wanted to.

One way around it all, build a pond. Claim its part of your landscape, put a Koi or 2 in it....lol

Well, I'm wondering what kind of a website this is because after clicking on the link, I happened to see another article within that website that talks about the USA having 2 Constitutions and the secret second Constitution belongs to the Vatican!!! See for yourselves!!
Theres probly some bogus stuff on it, but the rainwater tax is true and is already in effect in some states.

That depends on the size of the pond and whether water is from a diverted stream source. If diverted then the questions becomes how much. Not even remotely interested in building a pond.

why don't you read and find out why they passed the law to prohibit people from collecting rainwater?

the article is so comically ignorant that I think the writer is on government's domestic terrorist watch list or on medication for paranoia or schizophrenia.

do you realize that if everybody starts collecting rainwater.... that would be very bad for our lakes and nature? it will run dry and you will see tons of sinkholes! I can see that the law is flawed and it should be revised to a more reasonable one. they are already in process of revising it. that's how wonderful our government system is. the law is not absolute. it can be changed at any time. simply voice your concern and that's all you gotta do.

That is a very good point about the rivers and lakes drying up if everyone started collecting rain water. Water was so scarce in Northern California
people took showers together to use less water. I lived in a house that was very lucky to have shower and the men and women took showers at the same time .

I have one in my back yard, and my daughter has one in her back yard. (We gave them a rain barrel and a rotating composter for their anniversary and birthdays.) I'm thinking of adding more to our barrel because it fills up pretty fast. I use it for outdoor watering.

Reba, how do you keep the water in the barrel from turning green? Or does that not happen because there's no light hitting the water?

Don't know. :dunno: It is sealed except for the intake, which has a screen mesh over it. However, I guess even if it's green that wouldn't hurt plants. (It's not for drinking water.)

that bizarre,i thought collecting rain water was good and green thing to do it,we encouraged to do here in fact my council were giving away water butts at one time

Please tell me this meant to be funny and that lady is not that stupid .

I knew a guy that brought a second hand car and he could not find where to put the gas in his car. He kept asking my b/f , the guys where friends ,
where the gas went and my b/f refuses to tell him . I finally got tried of listening to the guy whining and told him it was behind the tail light or car plate . It was behind the a tail light.

We had an old car like that; the gas filler was behind the license plate.
