Laws Against Senile Old People

Okay, I will answer his question. Should there be a law? Nope. How can anybody legislate something like this? Some older people are doing quite well without much help. Such legislation would impact them adversely and I don't think that is the intent of the law. Just because this lady reacted rather harshly and negatively doesn't make for a clear consensus why she did that. Everybody has bad hair days and maybe this was one for her. Maybe everyday is a bad hair day... What do want the law to say? Ummm....all 70+ year olds need permission to go anywhere outside their property. They aren't allow to drive anymore and the list goes on and on. So, who is going to get groceries for them? Or take them to the doctor or whatever? Many good intentions go astray and this is one of them.

Consider this...As the population ages in most 1st world countries, it is the older ones that will be the most populous and dictate the laws!!!

...I suggest Vampy in my early post to report store Manager to take care of old lady until one of old lady's relatives come to pick her up. If there're nobody to come to pick her up then call on ambulance and police to take her to old people home because it's irresponsible to leave her alone to public like this because it might be happen to her which it's no good.

Wow, that seems like a severe over reaction! Unless there was more to Vampy's story than we know, I didn't read anything that indicated the woman needed to swept away and institutionalized. If we did that to everyone who had a bad day or rude reaction, half of AD would be locked up.

She was a cranky old woman, and she provided Vampy with material for an interesting post. That's it, end of story.

Did it occur to anyone that maybe the old lady has some hard of hearing issues of her own, and doesn't even realize how loud she is? I notice that many older hearing people start talking really, really loudly when they start losing their hearing.

Also, in this day and age, the world is full of dangerous people, that the TV news shows us every day and night. Maybe the woman is a little paranoid about contact with strangers.

Apparently she was well enough to make it to the store, so maybe she was just born with a bad personality. It happens. If you want to "live long and prosper" you can't let it bother you.

Hate to talk about my mother, she started to show some signs lately.. just like Vampy said..
yelled at our kids being theif after she dropped something, kids wanted to help..
telling our kids what to do or force them what she says or wants..
Even wrose, she still driving.. (eek).. she isnt really good driver now then before.. my bro and i are trying to get her off from driving. she totally rage piss at us.. we dont want wait till something happen..

I have been frustrated lately cuz of her.. because our kids have been up and down with her.. I tried talk the kids to accept but she have been too "harsh" or mean even mega bitch..

So I decided to put everything stop her seeing our kids or telling our kids what to do, have to through me and my man first before taking out on our kids..
it hasnt been pretty lately..

Vampy... I have been there and there many times with old people.. we are living in more likely elderly people area.. they are crazy even some of them dont have family come to visit.. its sad.. but driving or shopping around here are just crazy like circus..

Yeah.. Indeed, I guess so I'm look forward MIL will come cranky within 10 yrs left to go... Right now mil is 62 yrs old now.. plenty time.. when she'll become 70's or more.. will come CRANKY and MEGA BITCH too.. I'd rather let my hubby handle her, and ain't me... *whistle*

Vampy´s description sound that old lady has a Alzheimer’s Disease. I know from my experience what I had been through with Great Aunt for 4 years... It´s work hard and not very easy. Old people are likely baby.

It´s irresponsible to leave old people alone to the public... It´s okay if old people are healthy, fit and okay and able to go anywhere alone... but Vampy´s description about old lady sound no good... CODAgirl, Doofmama and I have been through our experience to deal with old people EVERYDAY.

Here in Germany, yes its about protect old people... They do something if it happened to old people in the public. It´s too irresponsible to leave old people alone with bad condition like this.
