Largest Deaf School in USA is....?????

It is about an hour and a half, depending on traffic, between LA and Riverside but there's so many towns in between the two. You cannot drive from Riverside to LA and run out of lights. LOL! Somewhere in the middel, leaning closer to Riverside just might do the trick for ya.
 
i googled 'largest school in usa' in search engine within a few second and it says Florida School for Blind and Deaf is the largest in USA.

Soo Deafclimber..

My husband likes to climb big mountains too. He hiked the entire pacific crest trail by himself. This venture took him six months. He did this entire thing by his own planning and lived to tell about it. Pretty neat.

cool :) that is awesome. i have heard a lot about PCT. there are soo many very beautiful scenes. i do backpacking too. sometimes i do on Appachalian Trail in east coast. i am just a rock climber, not mountaineering climber. i prefer climbing on vertical walls.

if ppl do hike or something in mtns, i consider its called backpacking or day hiking, not climbing - different definition. if someone do climbing in mtns like it requires harness, ropes, crampons, ice axes, that is called mountaineering which is really climbing. :D
 
Right--- my climbing experience is climbing to the top of the sale piles at Nordy's. And my backpacking experience is all the bags I can possibly throw on the back of my body to carry to my car and throw in my trunk and go in and gather more supplies at Macys.

That is neat you do that..Brian loves being a Mountain man. He is an eagle scout also.

How old are you? he is 48. He is in pretty good shape, he ran in marathons, did a triathalon and he was in the olympics and raced bikes thru 17 countries.

I am married to a studman. And he is married to a shopper.

yea i am just an outdoor boy just like ur studman. i m 39 and my mind is like 16 yrs old. ;)

On its face, the statement appears to make FSD to be one of the largest in terms of acreage. No question about it, FSD is B I G ! But when we're talking about the #'s of people working there and #'s of Deaf students, I think FSD trails a couple of other schools, but would be in the top five or so.

And yes, I'm a proud FSD alumni! :)
 
I am going to go out on a limb and guess there's about 18-20 thousand deafies in the Riverside/LA corridor. And this doesn't take into account all their (the deafies) relatives and friends. How much larger of a consumer base do ya need, anyway? Sounds great to me! Not talking to anyone in particular here.

Keep in mind that Deafness is a low-incidence disability and not a lot of areas have high numbers of Deaf people.

Minneapolis-St. Paul has a sizeable Deaf community. It seems to me that they have more going on than the Washington DC area community does.
 
well...I need that amount. We are to have 5000 each Doctor to make any money. So 20000 is goooooooooooooooooood.

I'm already packing my bags!! haha we still have three years. Ugh.

No one knows exactly how many deaf people who use sign language, though there are 28 million americans with hearing loss. The estimates are between 550,000 to 1 million who use sign language. So far I know that here in Washington state has about 10,000 deaf people in the state alone with about nearly 3,000 in King county alone (Seattle metro area)

I suspect that my original number might be on the conservative side which is good. Then, too, don't forget the hearing friends and relatives which would most probably push your number to maybe twice what you need.

No, I am not kidding, at one time it was considered to have
the largest deaf population in the United States. I am not
sure where it ranks now
 
I know!!! I think this is perfect. We are both so excited at the prospect I dont know that we can even eat our dinner tonight!!!

We have been trying for months to figure out how to use this deafness and his chosen profession to do good. To be successful. Not everyone would be comfortable having a Doctor who cannot hear them. This is purrrrfect. I am so hopeful right now. I cannot tell you.

Thing is.. so is my husband. It just makes sense!!!!

try www.tcdeaf.com, theres events listing in Twin Cities and Metro area.. Deaf school is down in Faribault, about an hour drive...

The Deaf Community start to moving out to Eau Clarie, Wisc.. or Hudson, Wisc.. due to high living cost in Minnesota..

so far.. 6 friends (different) already moved there. some others moved to Texas..
we are planning to move West Va.. soon but dont know when..
