It would save you some juicy of life battery since the disc driver draw more juicy while watch movie on laptop while you're in 6-hour airplane. Unless you have AC power depend which airplane and which seat would offer for you. :)

It will rip the DVD so faster if you have 20x DVD drive, it's common for desktop PC or Mac Pro, even can connect to iMac or Mac laptop via USB or Firewire for external DVD drive to make rip so faster.

I have 8x DVD drive, that's not enough and took over 1.5 hours to rip the 2 hours of movie.

Rip the DVD can be annoying when you are using Mac at same time, it cause CPU to utilize it at max, like 95% user and left under 5% are idle and make so hotter.
