'Kidnapped son' found on Facebook

A mother has been reunited with her son, 27 years after she claims he was kidnapped, after her sister saw him on the social networking site Facebook.

Avril Grube, 62, who lives in Poole, Dorset, says she was given custody of her son Gavin Paros after her marriage to a Hungarian man broke down in 1982.

His father, who died in 2006, had visiting rights but took him to Hungary and Ms Grube has not seen him since.

But Mr Paros, 29, met his mother this week after being found on Facebook.

Ms Grube, who was only discharged from hospital a week ago, said: "I would love it so much to have Gavin back living in Britain."

It is very important that now is the time she spends with her son because she is not a well lady

Beryl Wilson, Gavin Paros's aunt
She and her sister Beryl Wilson, 59, who lives in Liverpool, had spent years trying to trace their relative, even contacting the Hungarian Embassy and taking their case to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Ms Wilson told BBC Radio Solent: "[Mr Paros' father] had visitation rights, he said he was going to the zoo or somewhere and when he didn't arrive back we found out he had taken him back to Hungary.

"My sister was devastated, her health suffered.

"I tried everything... but no-one wanted to know."

In March, Ms Wilson typed her nephew's name into an internet search engine and could not believe it when his Facebook profile came up correctly showing he had been born in Liverpool and naming his mother.

"I was so relieved, it took me 27 years but I never gave up," Ms Wilson said.

'On cloud nine'

He had not logged into the site since October last year and did not respond to initial emails, but after Ms Wilson messaged his children Mr Paros emailed back.

Ms Wilson said: "My sister would phone him on a Sunday and speak to him through an interpreter.

"She is just absolutely on cloud nine.

"They have been hugging, really, really happy.

"At Christmas my sister had a stroke, she suffers from angina, diabetes and chronic nose bleeds... but it is very important that now is the time she spends with her son because she is not a well lady."

Plasterer Gavin, who turns 30 on Saturday, is now married with three children and had also been trying to trace his family for the past five years.

wow, thanks facebook, they reuninion each other after 27 years no see. You can see the video in the link.

It´s an exact same with me as well. I reunion with my old school mates after between 20 and 30 years no see via facebook and will reunion with them on 26th September in London.

I would not be shocked if I had found an old schoolmate of mine on the Internet that I had not seen in ages.

Really great!...My friend also found her grandson on MySpace!....Had not seen him in over 15 years.....She searched FB for him also.

I'm still searching for my old dorm mate...no luck yet! Since the 80's.....no one knows a thing! It's as if she disappeared into thin air...or perhaps she has passed on.

"Your mother would like to add you as a friend. Accept or Deny?"

Seems like a sin to deny. :)

My brother denied my mom as a friend to his FB account. I guess he didnt want her to know what he is up to with his college buddies. LOL!

A few years ago I was able to get in touch with 7 very good friends of mine from high school. It was wonderful being able to re-connect again since the last time we communicated with each other was in 1989.

My nephew, son of my favorite sister, won't accept me either on FB. He knows that I know he is...bi-sexual and is a trans-sexual..... (after finding a lot of my lingerie and dresses in a chest that he kept in his band room)....Oh well!...His mother is in denial....I've never asked her about it, or even talked to my nephew about it.....I just took my clothes (HEHE) back.

Oh well, no problem really! His wife divorsed him (they had a child) and now he hooked up with a lesbian who is bi-sexual too.....so maybe my lifestyle isn't as "open" as his....and I only see him every few years anyhow....

last week or so my old friend found me in my FB i have not seen her for about 25 years. it was shocked that she found me and i am glad that she add me.

We <3 Facebook :D

As for this story, its always awesome to know people can see another people again since people know each other. :)

I have access to my brother's profile...he posts a lot of pics of himself partying hard at the college parties. There are a few that shouldnt be posted to the public but I say nothing. My mom would have a cow if she saw them so she is always asking me what is he up to. Geez...I am in the middle between my parents and both of my brothers sometimes.

Ah yes, I know how it is. In fact, I was initially worried about adding my family members to Facebook. I have some pictures of me holding drinks (I was of legal age though.) There's also quite a lot of lesbian references (maybe too much?), saying that I love the L word and that Jennifer Beals could turn me gay. I also make comments to pictures like "OMG your boobs are hot." My family (at least on my dad's side) LOVES to gossip. Eventually, I just said "Screw it. If they think I'm an alcoholic lesbian, so be it.", so I accepted them. :D

this is awesome that he had been found thru facebook I know why facebook is popular site those days... now he can catch up on lost times with his mother :)

Most people in the facebook are trying to steal your identity, but this is way too opposite, police use facebook to steal somebody's identity such as a kidnapper, murderer, etc. Pretty cool. :)

Whilst at work tonight I ran into a girl I had gone to preschool with and she recognized me right off the bat. I was surprised though it took me a bit to picture her. She had moved out of town the year we had started Kindergarten. Amazing.
