Jesse Jackson doesn't know what he is talking about.
Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus were not "homeless". They were travelers who couldn't find a vacant room in a city overwhelmed by too many travelers. That is a temporary situation during a trip. That is not the same as "homeless". I sure it has happened to many people traveling during a busy time that you can't find a vacancy.
The Scriptures did NOT say that Joseph couldn't afford a room. The Scriptures said, "because there was no room for them in the inn." Joseph had a skilled occupation as carpenter, so he was not poverty stricken. He wasn't rich, he was humble, but he wasn't broke either.
By the time the wise men came to Jesus, he was living in a house, not a stable. "And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him..." Therefore, young Jesus was not "homeless."
