Do you disagree with my disagrement or are you agreeing to agree with my disagreement of Foxracs agreement?

:dizzy:

Ah here we go...... Let the disagreeing resume.

I will counter with Reagan.

Wasn't Reagan christian? He was a church goer, said the bible had all the answers and was pro-life.

Of course, it's possible he just played christian. It was an actor he was, after all.

The paradox here is that you have to be a good christian to become a US president....
If that were true, how is it that we ended up with so many Presidents in the past that were not good Christians???

"It"..?!

Anyone tell if presidents is good Christians are based on their opinion so we don't have accurate answer for that.

With "good", I mean that they are good christians according to themselves and the expectations from their surroundings.

Sorry if you feel I misused the term "good christians", it was not the purpose, and I think I got your point. Hope we still aren't discussing religion according to the mods here.

What do you mean with "it"? If it's a grammar mistake, I would be happy if you could explain, and present the correct way to write this?(english is not one of my native languages).

All we know, is that they declared themselves religious on the outside. The US president have to make a oath with the bible, too?

these Islamic centers are just a way to indoctrinate the hate based teachings. Islam is a religion that wants the world to be living in the year 5BC and not the year 2010. they keep their text books a secret and what is written in them is like a Nazi tracts preaching.

In English, "it" is the pronoun normally used for objects, not people. This sentence, "It was an actor he was, after all," would have been better cast as, "He was an actor, after all."

I realize that the "it" in your sentence refers to "an actor" not to Reagan but the construction is a bit uncommon for American English.

In English, to refer to a person as "it" instead of "he" or "she" implies a lack of humanity or personhood for the referenced person.

(Although your sentence did have a touch of Yoda-speak to it. ;) )

End of writing lesson. :)

A good Christian follows the tenets and spirit of Christianity. The role model for a good Christian is Jesus Christ. In fact, a "good" Christian should be a redundancy in that every Christian should live a good life in the image of Christ.

To born again Christians, someone who claims to be a Christian but doesn't live like one should is either backslidden or not actually a Christian in the first place.

My point was, even though past Presidents were members of Christian churches or were by default Gentile "Christians" in name, they weren't necessarily Christians in heart or practice.

This is the oath as required by the U.S. Constitution:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

It is not required that the oath be taken on a Bible. That is a custom, not a rule.

Are you saying that Christians that support GLBT rights aren't actually Christian?

Thanks, that was very intersting!

In other languages, it often exists constructions to state something important about a person. Like Reagan was an ACTOR, second a president. It was something like that I tried to do here.

(may the force be with you)

The movie about GW Bush, by Oliver Stone, portraited Bush as a born again Christian. That gives the impression that the white house fits a christian ruler. But your point is taken.

Aw.. Calvin will show up here any moment.

PFH, you take bets on this thread? 50 bucks it will get locked.
