Is this really an ASL sign?

I hope it's clear in ASL what I'm saying there. JSL (Jamaican Sign Language) and ASL are pretty similar.

I met a man yesterday who signed something I didn't know and said it was ASL, so I'm asking if it really is an ASL sign.

It's not a sign for "Learn" in ASL. That sign stands for Lincoln (Abe).

I really am confused as to where he could have got that sign from then. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, my only 2 options are to believe that it's an old sign, or that it's a dialectal variation....
 
nope it is not an ASL for a learn what you showed me. It sounds like it's a local homemade sign.

It could be Abe Lincoin for a sign if he was talking about Abe Lincoin.
 
not got time to go into it but i think one of his signs is 'unintelligent' in bsl done slightly different

UK sign language is very different BSL language! :)

Loser.sometimes is another way of signing it not in the sense of losing something.Pathic person ..uk sign is different .watch ASL enough i picked up although not quick.He Jamacan and i know some who sign bsl..i not watch all of it but he seem be using that sign although my placement would be different

i encourage to you. It is alots of people have translate hard. they information research want to information research. He learn enjoy :) cheer. happy motivate involves learn ASL and JSP

caz12, no, I was not using BSL and was not signing 'unintelligent'. I was using JSL.
