Teenage years are difficult regardless.
My question is are we more leaniant towards teenage boys going out than teenage girls?
Do we tend to worry more about the girl than we do about the boy?
Why?
That's a good question, Babyblue. I think, as a whole, society is more lenient with boys, and it is the result of ages old gender stereotypes that this culture has.
Well let's hope this thread will educate a few.![]()
I have and will continue to educate my daughter and son.
My son will know the consequences of unprotected sex as much as my daughter will.
I am teaching him as much as to conserve his body as much as her.
It is all about self respect and prevention of diseases. A lot of parents don't realize that boys can get into just as much trouble as girls can.

Absolutely, and I applaud you for educating both of your children the same. That is the way it should be.
I'm sure that you and a few others understand.
But after reading thread after thead in this forum.
It truly makes me sad. How she could have....She should have, and her parents too!!!
Hey! It takes two to do the horizontal mango tango!!
How often you hear or see?? What HE could have, or should have done?? How often do you hear from his parents?
I guess it's because the girl is the one who is more vulnerable to problems than boys are.
If a boy got a girl pregnant, the boy can still stay in school... while the girl usually drops out.
I know that the teenage pregnancy rate has increased dramatically during the last few years.
Maybe boys tend to be stronger and able to do much of works compare to the girls? Also I know it's because the girls are more in risk to be raped compare to the boys..
Yep, very true about the rape risk. My cousin who is the EXACT same age as me was allowed to go out and stay out later than me just because Im a girl and more likely to get raped and all that jazz. My family has REALLY made me hate being a girl. I guarantee that I would have experienced life SO MUCH more (going out, make more friends, traveled to places, and so on) if I were a guy. People think that my deafness is the biggest obstacle of my life, in reality, it's more likely simply being a girl!!!
The girls are the ones that gets knocked up. So she has to bear the burden.
So that is why they are treated differently??
Well your family should have allow you only when you are not alone and was with your friends to go out, just my opinion.
When I was in high school, I was shocked at the freedom my ex hubby had in high school while his sisters practically had no freedom. He had no curfew while his sisters had to be home by 10PM even on the weekends! He said that was typical in the Mexican culture.
